David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
This is the kind of butter cake recipes I have been looking for. I'm not big on frostings so something that's good without it is for me. This is a WONDERFUL recipe! Took the advice of other posters and used flour with cornstarch since cake flour is a luxury this kitchen may never see. Also only used for extra large eggs and I do insist on butter. Another point to remember is the size of the eggs. The second time I made this with just "large" eggs and an oblong pan. Came out heavy and flat. It turned out the best with 4 extra large eggs and the smaller cake pans. A lesson learned for me! Can't stop eating it. Hooray for David!

Almond/Apricot Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
A terrific recipe for a few reasons: Doesn't dirty up every bowl in the house to make, I substituted (3% fat) plain yogurt for sour cream and got FABULOUS results and third, no hard to find ingredients to hunt for. The posters who said you could use yogurt were absolutely right. Very moist and dense without seeming heavy. Best way to make it lower calorie is to share it with a lot of people!

Satay Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
I tried chicken satay in NYC and have been hankering for the version I had there ever since. This is exactly it and I'd certainly use it again. I really don't care much for peanut butter but I made an exception for this and I used plain peanut butter. Worked out great, I MIGHT thin it a little next time but that's just me. Thanks for the great recipe.

Cheese-Filled Coffee Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
GREAT recipe! Turned out perfect, not hard to do either. I halved the recipe and still got great results. I put strawberry preserves on top of the cheese filling for one loaf. Tastes just like the cheese bread at Mastori's Diner in Bordentown. I took one to the office and it was gone in two minutes.
