I am a wife of 24 years and a mother of 2 teenagers who eat ALOT! (I'm no slouch either when it comes to food.) I grew up in the south so I love all those classics such as fried chicken, boiled peanuts, ham and collards, key lime pie, etc. I work hard at trying to stay in shape by doing Pilates and hiking so I can keep on eating my favorites!
My favorite things to cook
Soups, grilling chicken and steak, homemade biscuits, fried chicken, pasta salads, salmon, brownies and hand-cranked ice cream.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grandma's oyster casserole, pole beans, pecan pie, and sweet potatoes were always on the table every Christmas and Thanksgiving. News Years Day meant pork marinated in sour oranges, collard greens, hop-n-john and cornbread. My Mom makes the BEST sour cream pound cake on the planet.
My cooking triumphs
Nothing that stands out, but when my family all raves about dinner (with not a complaint of "I don't like that!") I consider it a triumph. My kids love my chicken noodle soup and fried chicken best.
My cooking tragedies
Sweet and sour chicken the first year I was married. I used every pot, made a mess and it was yucko. I leave Asian food the experts now!
