Spicy Lime-Cilantro Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: May 15, 2012
This was pretty yummy. I did not feel like starting up the grill, so instead I cooked it on the stove top. I also love garlic so I added some of the garlic part of the marinade to cook it in. It was soooo yummy!! We cut it up afterwards and ate it in tacos and burritos. I will be making this recipe again!

Old-Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: May 1, 2012
I always make my pancakes from scratch and then freeze the leftovers for quick and easy weekday mornings. This recipe is perfect for that! First I triple the recipe, and then add about 2 teaspoons of vanilla. You can also change it up by adding a dash or two of cinnamon, or you can fold in some chocolate chips, blueberries, bananas, etc. for a delicious twist!

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: May 1, 2012
I always have cooked my bacon like this. It is super easy and frees up my time to do other things in the kitchen. However, I cook mine at 400 degree for 20 minutes.

Garlic Chicken Sausage and Summer Vegetable Saute

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
This was pretty good actually. I left out the Italian seasoning, but it was still extremely yummy. Next time though I might not add the sun dried tomatoes. It was too strong of a flavor for me, and I love sun dried tomatoes.

This was extremely delicious and such a wonderful idea! My family loves smores, so this recipe was a no brainer. I found that I prefer to stick mine in the freezer to set. Such a yummy and delicious recipe. I will be making this for my children again!

I would have never thought to put sausage in a Caesar salad, but boy does this garlic sausage taste soooo good. I was surprised that my kids even loved it. This recipe was simple, quick, and delicious. I will be making this again.

This is pretty yummy! The only changes I made was adding a little extra garlic and a dash of red pepper flakes. The sausage was sweet and delicious too! I will be making this again as my family loved it!

These are definately a yummy way to get your fiber! The peanut butter and chocolate actually made these pretty good, especially seeing how I hate the taste of bran. Definately a keeper!

German Texas Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
I thought this was a delicious chili recipe. I personally prefer slightly sweet and spicy chili, and this one fit the bill. I had never added beer to a chili recipe before either, but I honestly liked the flavor it added. I did add a little less chipotles though, because 6 are way too much for any dish. I added 2 chipotle peppers, and 2 teaspoons of sauce. Also I upped my chili powder to a 1/4 cup. I also did not have whole cloves, but I did have them in powdered form, so I added a few dashes. I also added some smoked paprika, which was delicious. I will make this chili again, but I will tweak it a bit. **EDIT** After serving it to my family, it was a HUGE hit with them. I changed my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. My hubby begged me to save the recipe.

California Crescent Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
These were absolutely delicious! They taste like something you would get at a restaurant or diner. The buttery flavor of the rolls meshed perfectly with the salty bacon and creamy guacamole. I loved these! So easy to make and perfect for a quick dinner. Why waste money at a diner when you can make sandwiches like this yourself?

These were super messy to make, but the kids loved them! Great way to make them eat veggies I must say! I added a little bit more ranch (just because I am one of those rare people who actually eats ranch on their pizza normally) and it tasted great!

Crescent Pizza Pockets

These pockets were ok. I found them a little bit too buttery for my taste, but my family gobbled them up with no complaints. I will definately be making these again for the little ones. Great idea and a super easy dinner idea for us busy moms.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2011
I had been craving macaroni salad because I love the macaroni salad I get at Hawaiian BBQ's. This was extremely similar. I omitted all the veggies mainly because I do not like crunch at all in my macaroni salad (texture issue). Instead of the onion, I added green onion (no crunch and not as strong onion flavor), and I only had apple cider vinegar on hand, so I used that. I ended up eating some at dinner and it was great, but I had some for lunch the next day and it was AWESOME. This definately tastes better the next day. Yummy!! Very similar to Hawaiian BBQ's as well.

Orange Buns

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
I love making bread with my bread machine, and when I found this recipe I got super excited. It sounded delicious! I did make a few slight changes as I did not have any oranges to zest, but I found that it did not need it. Also, I found that I only needed 5 1/3 cups of bread flour. I threw all my ingredients into my bread machine (wet ingredients first, dry on top, and then make a funnel in the dry ingredients to add your yeast) and set it to my dough setting. After it was done rising the first time, I rolled my doll out on a lightly floured surface to about a 1/3 of a inch of thickness. I then rubbed butter on it a la cinnamon roll style and very lightly sprinkled white sugar on it. I took my pizza cutter and cut my dough into little squares and then pinched the dough into a ball so that the butter and sugar is on the inside (this is how I make rolls). I put them in 9 inch greased cake pans and then covered them with clean dish towels for an hour. Remember to let them rise in a warm place. Mine happened to be on my stove under my hood lights. I then baked them at 350 degrees (my oven is electric and runs hot for some reason) for 10 to 11 minutes. They make EXCELLENT dinner rolls—slightly sweet, but so soft and chewy. I highly recommend this recipe. Delicious.

Spicy Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
Ok, so I read the other reviews and can see where they might have not liked this dish, but this is an excellent dish to tweak and make amazing. For starters I cut back on some ingredients. I omitted the cayenne, cut the chunky peanut butter to 1 cup creamy, and cut the chili sauce to only 1 tablespoon. In place of the 2nd cup of peanut butter, I added 1/2 cup of peanuts (this will cut back on the peanut butter flavor and give it a little peanut crunch). I also changed the soy sauce to ¼ cup and added a lot of garlic and onion powder to the sauce. I then added 1 tablespoon of fish sauce. In lieu of the 3 ½ cups water, I added 2 cups of chicken broth. I do not like chow mien noodles, so I kept those out all together. With these changes you will have a creamy (not too thick) sauce with an amazing flavor. Add directly and simmer it with the cooked chicken for about 5 to 10 minutes before tossing with the noodles. Right at serving, I highly suggest chopping up clean fresh cilantro and green onions and topping each plate. The cilantro gives it that extra Thai flavor. With these changes I swear it was very similar to my favorite Pei Wei Thai chicken dish.

Dirty Banana

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
I decided to make a virgin version of this for both myself and my kids. It sounded just absolutely delicious. Instead of the coffee flavored liqueur, I instead added a teaspoon of instant decafe coffee. Also, instead of the banana liqueur, I added a whole banana and a tablespoon of brown sugar. The rest of the recipe I kept the same. While I found the chocolate and coffee slightly overbearing, my children loved it. I will most likely make this again.

Chicken with Chipotle

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2011
I actually learned this recipe while living in Mexico years ago. I change things up a bit by adding garlic and onion though. If you have picky eaters like me though, you can use garlic powder and onion powder so there is no texture to it or blend the onions and garlic into with the sauce in the blender. I also do not add chicken bouillion but I boil my chicken on the stove and use the stock from that. Also, do not forget the salt, or it will be lacking in flavor. All in all, I am extremely happy to see this recipe on her, and I am glad I found it! I hadn't made this in years and I forgot how delicious it was. Thanks!

French Orange Poached Pears (Poire Avec Orange)

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2011
This was absolutely delicious. I do not know why, but this recipe called to me to be poured over vanilla ice cream a la banana foster. I am so glad that I did. Although I did not change the recipe any, I did use an apple corer to core the pears (easier in my opinion). This also sliced them. One thing I would recommend though is use either less sugar or unsweetened orange juice. Otherwise it will be very sweet. All in all, a wonderful treat.

Country Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
This is a pretty decent white bread recipe. What I did to make the recipe easier was use my bread machine to prepare the dough. I put all of my ingredients (only difference was I used 4 cups of flour instead of 5) and set it to dough setting. When the batter was done, I braided it and set it to rise in two seperate loaf pans. I also found that 30 minutes was enough cooking time in my eletric oven. Otherwise it would have over cooked. It came out pretty good and made two loafs. Now I have one to share with a friend! I would recommend eating with fresh butter or homemade jam.
