Buttery Cinnamon Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
I cut the cake recipe in half but kept the amount of glaze as-is. It's a lovely, simple cake. I've made it as travel snacks, so I'm hoping it'll stay moist and tasty until my fiancee and I fly the day after tomorrow. Of course, he might eat it first...

Butterscotch Pudding I

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2014
I've made this recipe a number of times now. Living abroad, when I want a taste of home, I have to make it myself. It's so good (even better than the packaged sort) that I've turned it into pie filling when I was back home over the holidays- graham cracker crust, fresh whipped cream on top.

Soft Onion Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: May 1, 2013
I made this as a loaf, not wanting to deal with shaping into rolls. I flung the ingredients into my bread maker and hit go. Four hours later, I was rewarded with a sturdy, slightly crusty loaf. It won't be great for PB&J, but for my boyfriend's daily ham sandwich, I imagine it'll be delish.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: May 1, 2013
As an American living abroad, I've found myself missing the stuff I grew up eating. These taste just like my mom's Sloppy Joes, and I didn't need to open a can. I added shredded zucchini and diced mushrooms, and added a bit of extra zip with a second spoonful of mustard and a shot of Worcestershire sauce, but even if I had followed the recipe to the letter, it would have worked out to be quite tasty!

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
The flavor of this bread is nice, but as I remember about steakhouse wheat bread, it's a bit gooey in the middle.

Cranberry Orange Bread (For Bread Machine)

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2013
This is a good bread, however not super-special. I followed it to the letter, and I'd make it again, but I might add almond extract next time around.

Super Easy Rosemary Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2013
This bread is delicious. It was the first one I've made by bread machine, and it seems to have fallen in a bit, but I'm chalking that up to the learning curve thing (SO not the recipe's fault). I didn't have thyme, so I left it out, but next thyme I'll use it (herb humor).

Traditional Pita Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2012
These are good, but next time, I might cut the salt in half.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
This cornbread is delicious. I didn't have standard cornmeal (really hard to find in the UK), so I subbed in polenta. I made it into minimuffins. I think they're going to go over big at my Thanksgiving dinner!

Mom's Turkey Sausage Patties

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
I didn't fry these into patties, but instead baked them into sausage rolls and turned the mix into meatballs. Really tasty!

Mark's English Sausage Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
These were REALLY tasty. An awesome party snack! They opened while baking, which is the only reason they're getting a four-star rating from me instead of a five. Directions should be clarified (either that puff should overlap or pastry should be baked seam-side down) for a five-star review.

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
The flavor on this is great. I rarely cook with cream, so the sauce is a real treat. I do find the texture of the pasta a bit offputting- I actually prefer my noodles on the softer side, but this is so soft I had to stir it with a silicone spatula. It's also very white (to be expected, since it is a cream sauce), so I tossed some roasted broccoli in for color.

No Peek Irish Beef Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
This recipe is totally solid. It needs a little salt and pepper, some garlic powder, and perhaps a dash of Worcestershire sauce to really kick it into "awesome," but even without the extra ingredients, the meat comes out incredibly tender. I might suggest using waxy potatoes, which won't get as mealy as they cook.

Wacky Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
This cake was only so-so. It had great texture- moist, fluffy, but it wasn't really chocolatey enough for me.

Tender Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
This is a great base recipe. I added some herbs and spices (garlic, pepper, basil, oregano) and baked for less time, since my cubes were small, but really, just great!
