Grandma's Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Just made this recipe, and it turned out pretty good! I ended up using heavy whipping cream (because that is what I had.. was out of milk) I also added some minced garlic and grated parmesean cheese.

Different Chicken Divan

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
I loved this recipe! The only changes I made were: Instead of fresh broccoli, I took a bag of frozen chopped broccoli and placed it in the casserole dish frozen, it cooked up just fine. I also used 1/4 cup of sour cream and 3/4 cup of mayo. I also used shredded chicken that I had made via crockpot during the day (just threw some chicken breasts and chicken broth or water in a crockpot and cooked it at low all day). It saved me alot of time by making the chicken that way and using frozen broccoli. I served it over steamed rice. One other note, this recipe does have a bite to it. I might scale back on the Curry and Cayenne a little bit next time. But it is still very good.

Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
I have to give this a 5 because it was easy and turned out great. I actually followed the recipe pretty closely. The only changes I made were ground turkey instead of ground beef (it's healthier), more cheese (which balances out the healthiness of the ground turkey with the unhealthiness of alot of cheese) and got a can of diced tomatoes with green chilis. I tried some black bean and garlic flavored tortilla chips (they were new at my store) and it turned out great. I think the cook time might be a little too long. I think you can pull it out after about 20 minutes. This is a great base recipe, and I can't wait to get more creative and add different things in as I go!

Chicken Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
I only gave this 3 stars, because I modified it a bit. Instead of using Chicken Stock, because I didnt have any. I used 3 chicken bouillion cubes and 1 3/4 cup of water (as suggested by a previous reviewer). I mixed the corn starch with milk instead of water (as suggested by a previous reviewer). I made sure to add enough milk so that it didnt turn into a paste. The first time I attempted this, it turned into a paste and didnt work to well. I used a little bit of poultry seasoning and salt and pepper to taste. It tasted like a good country creamy chicken gravy.

Beef Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
Fantastic Recipe and pretty easy to make. I also used coleslaw so I didnt have to cut up the cabbage, but other then that I followed the recipe fairly close (sometimes adding more soy sauce or garlic). I would buy two packs of egg roll wrappers because I still had quite a bit of mixture. Also, if you are rolling all of the eggrolls before frying, don't stack them on top of each other, the juice leaks onto other egg rolls causing tearage.

Asparagus Swiss Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
This is a great base recipe. I make some tweaks in it though. I am not a big fan of Swiss cheese, so I use a mixture of cheddar and mozzerella. Also, instead of just mixing it in with the mixture, I put some on top. I also double the amount of eggs and half and half, as this recipe does not seem to have enough eggs. Just note if you increase the egg and half&half that you must increase your cooking time by 10 - 15 minutes, atleast.

Silky Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
I thought that this was a great recipe! I did not use the pie crust recipe that was given, instead I used a pilsbury premade pie crust because I didnt have time to make the other. I used 4 fresh lemons for juice, it was almost a little too tart. I will probably use only 3 lemons next time. My husband and father loved it. Will definitely make again!

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

I loved these mashed potatos! I did not add butter at the end .. or salt & pepper. Also when mashing I added a tiny bit of milk. Other then that... it was very good!

Elegant Turkey Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Everyone that had it said they liked it, I am not sure if they were telling the truth or not. I think for the most part it was good. I used orange juice instead of orange liquer and craisens instead of raisens. I think the orange flavor was overwhelming. I think I will use a different flavor next time. Also just a recommendation.. this recipe makes ALOT I had enough to stick in my 21 lb turkey, and then alot of left overs.. probably enough for another turkey. On that note.. make sure you have a huge bowl to stir everything in.
