About this Cook
I've been baking since I was a little girl in my Grandma's kitchen. She would save pot pie tins for me, so that when she made her big pies, I could make little ones right next to her. I always did the cooking and baking projects in 4-H, and everyone loves it when I do my holiday baking! I am a nurse, so I get great joy from helping people to feel better. When I feed people, I feel that same sense of pride when I hear that someone enjoyed something I made for them.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies! I also enjoy creating different soups, and playing with recipes, whether they work out or not. The process is the adventure for me!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I just hosted my first Christmas dinner, and I think that it will become my family's new Christmas tradition. Also, every year around the beginning of winter on the first really cold day, I have to make potato soup. It gives me that warm-to-the-bottom-of-your-toes feeling! I also enjoy filling my kitchen with Christmas cookies, birthday cakes, stir frys, and new recipes!
My cooking triumphs
The latest is this year's (2008) Christmas dinner for my family. The menu consisted of pot roast, ham, green bean casserole, pineapple stuffing, rolls, salad, pecan pie, and thumbprint cookies. Everything turned out great, and my family all went home with full, happy bellies!

Pineapple Stuffing
This has become a yummy favorite of mine! I like to make it more like a dessert, adding a bit of cinnamon and vanilla, to taste, to the mix. It is very good served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Mmmmm!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole
Wonderful recipe! I made it for my family Christmas dinner, and everyone raved about it. I went back for seconds, and it was gone! Guess I'll have to make a double batch next time!
