Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
These had a great flavor and looked really wonderful. I'm still honing my bread-baking skills, so they were a bit more dense than I expected, but all in all, a good recipe.

Cinnamon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
I made two batches of this. The first batch was the standard recipe. The second batch, I used 3 egg yolks (eliminated the whites) and used apple pie spice in place of cinnamon (I'd used all the cinnamon I had in the first batch!). I also folded in some chopped pecans. This stuff was really amazing! It goes super well with Grandma Ople's apple pie from this site - the pie doesn't have cinnamon, and the ice cream compliments the pie PERFECTLY!

Spinach Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
ended up adding a load more flour but think it was because I didnt allow the spinach to drain fully. Very nice.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
I used the leftover homemade bread (Amish White Bread recipe from this site) I had on hand for this recipe. I used a bit of brown sugar as well just because it's a personal preference. Very, very tasty. I think I may increase some of the liquid and let it soak for a bit before baking since I like a really gooey bread pudding. Thanks for sharing. :)

Basic Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Really easy and quite tasty. I did end up letting this one rest for at least an hour before running through the pasta roller - it definitely made all the difference. Will be making again. :-)

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
This was a lot easier to make than I ever expected homemade bread to be. I actually forgot an ingredient (salt) and it still turned out quite nicely. I will be making this again. :)

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
These were okay - I have to say that I haven't made oatmeal raisin cookies in a while, but I think if I were to make these again, I would increase the amount of raisins by at least 1/2 a cup (just personal preference). The cookies didn't seem to spread and bake and instead really just sort of baked in the shape that I scooped them in. The dough tasted nice though. :-)

Sweet Potato Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
Very tasty. I'll definitely be making this again to use any leftover sweet potatoes. :-) I had to modify it a bit because I didn't have oil. I used 1/2 cup butter flavored Crisco, and it still came out perfectly.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
I thought these were really great. They had a very nice flavor and were easy to make. I used Peter Pan honey roasted peanut butter (it's what I had on hand), and they turned out very well. My 2 year old ate 5 out of the 12 cookies from the first batch... So they definitely have his approval. :-)

Decadent Chocolate Orange Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
The orange filling was just great. I followed the recipe, but I preferred it a bit sweeter and more orangey, so I added some more marmalade and sugar to taste (also used confectioner's sugar for smoother consistency). :-D Overall, very good cake.

Dark Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
I had a serious chocolate craving... just to give you an idea of how desperate I was for something chocolatey, it's 1am where I am. I don't have any butter on hand which renders my other chocolate cake recipe useless, so I did some browsing and came across this one. No butter. Great reviews. First off, the batter was an indication that this cake was going to be great. I actually reserved a bit and prepared a little ramekin I have and made a single serving microwave cake while the big ones baked in the oven. Wonderfully moist and sweet, very chocolatey. I did follow others' advice to add more cocoa powder (used a little more than a cup) and some more sugar (used about 1 1/4 cup). I made 2 cakes (9" round pans) - one for me and one for a neighbor. I dusted mine with some simple powdered sugar for a clean and simple look. And after 3 - yes, THREE - pieces, I had to log on to review this before I slipped into a chocolate coma. Oh, and I don't really have to worry about cleaning up because the one bowl thing is brilliant. Great recipe - this will be replacing my current chocolate cake recipe. Thanks for sharing.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2009
These are unlike any chocolate chip cookies we have ever had... The color and appearance made them look a bit like those plastic cookies used in photo shoots. Because we wanted to break up the chocolate flavor, we used a combination of peanut butter and chocolate chips. The edges of these cookies were crunchy and shiny. We will continue looking for that perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Classic Tiramisu

I tried this one twice and just could not get it to work. I'm going to play around with the quantities of ingredients as suggested by some reviewers and then try again.

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
I was looking forward to this - licking the spoons along the way proved that this is one heck of a tasty batter. But I must've done something wrong. Maybe my eggs weren't eggy enough. Maybe my baking powder wasn't the best. Whatever it was, my cake didnt turn out light and fluffy, but was more dense. I am going to try this one again and hopefully it will turn out. If not, I'll just eat the batter out of the bowl. :)

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
I had to come back here and edit my previous review... Just have to add that I made this again, but this time, I made my own mayonnaise, too. Super terrific yummy great! Love this recipe!! I really loved this and found it a great way to kill the inexplicable egg salad craving I've been having lately (I hate eggs!). Only thing I did was add some bacon pieces to the leftovers. Very nice with or without the bacon. :) Thanks for sharing!

Dumplings

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
Really easy to make. I needed more margarine, but no problem there. I made these for chicken n dumplins when I didn't have any canned biscuit dough. They tasted better, were much cheaper and what's best is that I get to say I made it all from scratch! :-D Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Banoffee

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
While living in Northern Ireland, I would eat this like there was no tomorrow whenever my mother-in-law would make it. Since my in-laws are in town visiting, I wanted to try this out and see how it was received. I slacked a bit on the condensed milk - I substituted (as others have done) the milk with Dulce de Leche, which is easy to find in any store in Texas where I now live. My only complaint about my dish was that the bananas in the store were not as ripe as they should have been for this dish. I topped it with whipped cream and finely chopped pecans. My mother-in-law seemed to really love it, which made me very happy. I am glad I came across this recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
This was so much easier to make than I could ever have imagined. After coming home late from work one night and having two hungry mouths to feed (husband and 6 year old son), I was looking for something quick and easy but very tasty. My husband is from Northern Ireland, and I thought this would be a great dish to try on him. He ate a large first helping and then went back for seconds! This is great! I'm looking forward to trying it again!!
