Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
Made this last night as one of the sides with ribs. Very very good! I increased the butter to 3 Tab and increased the baking time to one hour as I was making the ribs in a 350 oven. Will be making this one often - thanks!

Baked Pineapple Casserole

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
Made this last night as one of the sides for ribs. The only change I made was to use fresh pineapple because I didn't have canned. I mashed up enough to make almost 2 cups and it worked fine. I didn't think my husband would go for it but he gave it a two thumbs up!

Cheese and Bacon Potato Rounds

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
I keep forgetting to review this one. I cut the potatoes slightly thicker - not a lot - at the suggestion of an AR exchange person. You can change up the cheese if you don't have or like cheddar. These are great as a side or on their own as an appetizer!

Beth's Scalloped Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
I make the same recipe that was my Grandma's. You have to make sure you drain the cabbage in a colander for a long time. I let mine drain for at least an hour. I always use plain old slices of American cheese. They melt down beautifully. Just add as many slices as you want to make it as cheesy as you like. My Grandma always topped hers with crushed saltines so that's what I use. I'm sure the Ritz would be good too though!

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
I've never made sausage gravy but have had it many times eating out. This recipe was easy and wonderful! I used regular sausage as that's all I had in the house. Since it's just the two of us I had enough left over to frreze. It made an a no-brainer dinner last week - all I had to do was thaw it and reheat it in a pan with some extra milk to thin it out. Spoon over some biscuits and dinner is served! This is a keeper!

Easy Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
Rarely does anything go to waste in our house but this one did. I used sour cream too instad of the mayo. My husband is not a fussy eater and he barely touched it. It didn't hold together either so I served it sccoped into a bowl. I really wanted to like this recipe but I won't even bother trying to tweek it.

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
This recipe is to die for. I used margarine the first time I made it because I was out of butter and too lazy to leave the house. With all of the other ingredients you can't tell the difference. I left out the garlic salt. Instead of mincing the garlic I just put 3 cloves through my Mouli. I keep a container of this is the freezer. You can just whack off a piece for topping veggies or whatever. You have to try this one!

Mom's Brown Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
My husband is from England so, of course, we ALWAYS have a jar of Marmite in the house He tasted it because I won't go near anything with Marmite. He said it was too salty when I made it at first and I did not use the salt in the recipe. I did use a chicken boullion cube though so I sure that's where the extra salt came from. I added a splash of port as suggested by one reviewer. I just had my husband taste it again and he said "throw it out". I can only go by what he said but this man would eat Marmite on cardboard. Won't be making this one again - sorry!

Mark's English Sausage Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
This recipe was right on the money. I have had similar sausage rolls in both England and in an Irish pub in Germany and this recipe is even better than the "authentic" ones I had overseas. I couldn't find sage sausage so I added a pinch of ground sage to my sausage - it makes all of the difference - don't omit it!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
I was glad I read through many reviews before making this. I doubled the sauce as my husband like things really saucy. I used roasted chicken breat cubed and added Old Bay in addition to the seasonings listed in the recipe. We love celery seed in our house and I urge you to go and get some because it really does make a difference! I was also too lazy to cut up fresh veggies I used 2 cups of frozen mixed veggies instead I only used a top crust as my husband thinks a bottom crust is too much pastry. I made an egg wash with a beaten egg yolk with a little milk added and brushed that over the crust. It came out a glossy beautiful golden brown. This recipe is a keeper! Thanks!

Candied Baked Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
This sounded so weird I had to try it. But I did not care for it at all - sorry! Some odd combinations just plain don't work.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
I haven't made this for a while because it is very time consuming. Please don't fiddle with this recipe except for the salt. It's outstanding just the way it is!
