About this Cook
Marketing Manager turned SAHM of twin toddler boys, I find baking very therapeutic! Living abroad in Switzerland means that I have to be creative with certain ingredients (Brown sugar in Switzerland? No. France? No. Germany? No!). Thank goodness for international shops that ship...I never thought I'd be getting sugar in the mail!
My favorite things to cook
Squares, cakes and all things bad for you. Find my favorite recipes and photos at my blog, Domestica:
My favorite family cooking traditions
Throw it all in one pot and see what you get.
My cooking triumphs
Replicating the Millionaire Squares I had while on vacation in Scotland. These are a traditional (3-layered) Scottish square and ridiculously good. I like that they are somewhat like Nanaimo Bars (a family tradition).
My cooking tragedies
At age 12, I was at a friend's house and the mother asked me to start the Kraft Dinner for ten of us to eat lunch. My mother NEVER allowed us to eat that kind of stuff so I had never made it before. I got confused and poured all five cheese packets in while the pasta was still in the water! The best part was probably when the mom freaked out and I innocently said "I don't know! My mom doesn't let us eat this kind of food!".

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce
Used white wine vinegar and it was delicious!! Poured it over some steamed brussels sprouts as well!

Sweet Potato and Curried Red Lentil Pizza
I think there is a mistake in the directions. The submitter states that she uses a "curried red lentil sauce" in place of tomato sauce but the directions call for it all to be stirred in together. I came up with nothing but mush. It still tasted good but the texture was a bit off-putting. Next time, I'll try frying up the onions, garlic, spices (which is more traditional Indian style) and add the lentils to that. Then make the sweet potato/eggplant mixture on it's own.
