Poppy Seed Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
I love this cake! The only thing I do different is grease and dust the bundt pan with sugar instead of flour. No frosting needed that way.

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
My boyfriend LOVES apple butter and raves about Cracker Barrel's all the time. I made this and he says its even better! We go through about a jar a month so I constantly have to make more. The great advantage to it being a clowcooker receipe is that your whole house will smell absolutely amazing. I cook it as directed and then use a hand blender to smooth it out when it's finished cooking. It's perfect every time. Thanks for a wonderful receipe!

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
This really is the best steak marinade. Its full of flavor! I leave out the garlic powder and put in minced garlic instead. I've already used the recipe twice and will continue for many many years!

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
WOW. This just came out of the oven and I stole a bit from the corner. Perfect texture, amazing flavor. I used 6 mediums sized Gayla apples and baked it for 45 minutes. The only change was that after I cut the apples I mixed some cinnamon and vanilla in them to add a bit more flavor. I'm sticking with this one.

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
This is a good mix. However, it was a little too milky for my liking. I tested the first batch over a couple of days so I had a chance to figure out what was missing. On my second batch I made these changes: increase cocoa powder to 1 full cup, and increase powdered sugar to 3/4 cup. The sweetness of the original recipe was good, but I increased in order to balance with the added coca. It made the biggest difference! The first batch looked like chocolaty milk, but the second batch was a creamy darker brown color. It was a ton better! I dumped out all the jars I from my first batch and added the extra cocoa and powdered sugar. It is not overly chocolaty or sweet. I also took another reviewers suggestion and used chocolate flavored creamer.

Raspberry Venison Skillet

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
Very different recipe. This is a sweeter dish. Its not something that I will cook all the time, but I will definitely keep it around. It takes the gamey taste away because it is such a strong flavor. The caramelized onions are awesome! this is not a flavor for everyone but I still give it five stars because it is good as is.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
Just what I was looking for. I didn't have the amount of bananas caled for- my fault. I only had three medium bananas. It definatley needs more than that. But as it, it is wonderful. I added cinnamon and nutmeg as a personal prefrence. The bread bakes dark and has a crisper crust with a dense, moist inside. I cooked mine for 60 minutes and it could have used a little less baking time, I think. This will be my go-to recipe for banana bread for sure! There are so many ways it can be tweaked to your liking!

My husband loves these muffins. They are simply and use ingredients we already have around. They are flavorful without being overpowering like molasses can get.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
This is EXCELLENT. I loved it. Used the whole bad of spinach. Newman's Own alfredo sauce and chopped up the artichoke's really small. The flavor was melded beautifully when I mixed it and let it sit overnight in the fridge before baking. Some sprinkled mozzerella cheese on top is a must. My husband, who hates anything that has cream cheese in it, and hates artichokes even enjoyed some it this.

Mocha Coffee

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
LOVED this with a couple changes. I kept the cocoa at 1 tbs, upped the sugar to 2 tbs, and 3 tbs milk. The extra sugar evens out the cocoa taste to me. I will be trying it with splenda next time to cut back on the sugar. It was chocolatey, but balanced and that was just what I was looking for. I will definitely be keeping this around as a special treat. Who needs starbucks anyway???

No-Fuss Beef Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
This was just what I was craving- juicy, flavorful, and made great leftovers! I doubled the spices and ended up cooking it for about 1 1/2 hrs (4lb roast) it came out a perfect medium all the way through. The temp guides were really helpful. This will be added to my regular dinner rotation for sure!
