Red, White, and Blue Fruit Smoothie

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Refreshing smoothie, as nice as one you would buy at Orange Julius. I didn't have time to freeze my banana and accidentally picked up cherry vanilla yogurt, but they still turned out delicious.

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Unique chili. We loved the Zucchini and the turkey packs lots of protein. I added a can of Kidney beans, cause I like them!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Just like she said- moist and fluffy. Turned out perfect and we will keep this as our new standard for cornbread. I can't eat chili without it! Also makes a great corn dog when hot dogs and shredded cheddar are added.

Absolute Best Liver and Onions

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
I'd never had liver before now, but because my pregnant body was low on iron we gave it a try. We liked it! Very unique taste. I agree with a previous review- you can't have too many sweet onions with this one. If I did anything differently I would thaw my liver overnight in the fridge rather than try to defrost in micro. I think that would hold it together better and not make it as gross to handle raw.

Blended Fruit Chiller

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2007
Nice and thick. My banana was frozen to help the smoothie be colder. I added protein. Nice.

Banana Blast II

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2007
I wish they would repost this recipe without the water. Usually the goal is to have a thicker drink, not water it down. We added 1/4 cup of blueberries, 2 TBSP flax seed and a scoop of protein. Yum!

Pumpkin Layer Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
Excellent variation on the traditional pumpkin pie. So easy. I used ready made pumpkin pie mix. Used a little more than the recipe called for though. Will make this one again and again!

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Good hearty cheeseball. Actually- this recipe made 3 bigger than baseball size cheeseballs. I almost doubled the recipe until I realized this. Used Sharp Chedder cheese, which allowed me to used 1/3 less fat cream cheese- still very rich.

Pierogi (Polish Dumplings)

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
My husband devoured this. Big hit. I used the sourcraut as a topping, rather than a filling since I had no extra sour cream. Wish I would have added bacon. I boiled them for 3 minutes and then fried them in butter. Yum.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
I hate gingersnaps and made these only for my husband, but SURPRISE I love them! I am converted to a ginger cookie lover thanks to this recipe. I followed it exactly and they were perfection.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
I am reviewing the original recipe. These cookies turned out beautifully. I baked them at 350 for 7 min. and the bottoms turned golden brown, but the cookie itself stayed white and well baked without being brown on top or too crisp. Made for a very tasty, soft and beautiful sugar cookie! Will make again and again.

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
I feel like a professional baker after using this recipe. I only got 20 cookies, but I made them too large. The second sheet I made much smaller. After trying both sizes, I have to say the smaller you make them the better cause otherwise the cookie-jam ratio is overbearing and makes them too dry. Now that I know that I will make these tiny cookies often in the future.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
I hate that this recipe has been completely revised and now is complicated to follow or I would give it 5 stars. I just kinda tried to follow most recommendations and did my own thing half the time. I will make it again, but not let myself get stressed about all the new recommendations by reviewers.

This was easy to make and pretty good. I used turkey bacon, but next time I'm going for the real stuff cause it's crispy.

Balsamic Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
Amazing taste! I used raspberry balsamic vinegar cause that's what I had on hand and it was delightful. In fact, the next day I went to reheat (very few) leftovers and ate them all cold before they got into the microwave =) Soooo goood!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
Good light lunch option. I gave it 5 stars for easy assembly and good flavor with double the cumin and a bit of cilantro. Next time I would use a spicier salsa. The garlic and onion saute' was a must. I wouldn't add as much lime next time. I did 2 TBSP and it seemed a bit too lime-y. NOTE: Made this a second time, following the recipe exactly. It was very good this way. No need for extra ingredients after all.
