Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
Wonderful pie! I ended up stirring the butter/sugar mixture in with the fruit rather than pooring it over the crust (I was afraid it might burn since my oven can be difficult). Also added cranberries and 2 pears to the apple...YUM!

AMAZING brownies!!! These are so moist & the frosting is not too sweet. It will be hard to eat brownies from a box after this!

Easy Caramelized Onion Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Wonderful recipe!!! Great flavor and very moist! I'm not sure why, but the water never really evaporated for me (I checked...and I did add the correct amount). Regardless, they still turned out great - maybe next time I won't put the full amount of water in.

Balsamic Chicken with White Beans and Spinach

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
Although this is not the most attractive dish, the taste was excellent! If you are not a balsamic vinegar person, you may not like this - but I thought it was very good. I did add some seasoning to the chicken and doubled the garlic, otherwise followed the recipe to a T. This is great recipe for a low-carb dieter...lots of protein! It was fast too. Perfect for a week-day meal.

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
Wonderful and so easy! I added veggies as well(eggplant, pepper, onion) and also added some (drained) cottage cheese & shredded mozz. to the ricotta. I followed previous reviewers suggestions and "frosted" the noodles with the ricotta mixture in order to have more of a layered lasagna. Alternated layers: "frosted" noodles, spices, sauce/meat mixtures, veggies, shredded mozz. Next time I think I will add a couple of mozzarella cheese slices to a layer...it was a little drier than I prefer, but that was b/c of all of the ricotta & maybe I should have used regular shredded mozz. instead of the thinly shredded kind? Either way, this one's a keeper and I was happy with my first attempt at crockpot lasagna!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
Very good recipe!!! This was my first attempt at a key lime pie and I will never use another recipe! It wasn't too sweet, which I liked. I did have to bake it longer though. It may have been my oven, but it took about 25 minutes for the pinholes to appear. Despite this, it turned out great (didn't taste over-done and the crust didn't burn). This one's a keeper!

Colette's Smoked Sausage Fritatta

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
Excellent recipe! I like to add green/red pepper and have also used leftover ham instead of the sausage - either way, it's wonderful! Great for those "I don't feel like doing serious cooking" weeknights!

Turkey Wild Rice Soup II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
This recipe is definitely a keeper! I only made a couple of changes - added sliced mushrooms and fresh parsley. I didn't have enough turkey stock and used chicken broth...it still came out delicious!

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
Great recipe! I used seasoned bread crumbs and added chopped red pepper & dried fire-roasted tomatoes for more flavor. Now I have, yet another, reason to look forward to zucchini season!

Southwestern Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
This was such a nice change from the typical pasta salad! I followed other suggestions by adding chicken and avocado. I also threw in some fresh spinach right before serving. Yum! Thanks for the recipe...definitely a keeper!

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
Very good...definitely a keeper! I had 4 boneless pork chops that were not very thick, but they still turned out great and were done in 3 hours on low (my slow cooker is new and seems to cook things through quicker than expected).

Lemon Dreams

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
I made these cookies for Christmas and received wonderful reviews! I later made them again, but this time used the shortbread recipe from "Berry Shortbread Dreams" (but kept the yummy lemon filling)...even better! The almond in that recipe mixed nicely with the lemon. I love how these cookies looked so pretty and deceivingly difficult - but they were so easy!

Chocolate Chex® Caramel Crunch

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
Wonderful recipe! I followed the recipe completely the first time and was very pleased. I later modified it to give as Christmas gifts - added M&M's (rather than drizzle), peanuts, Cheerio's, and pretzels. The result was a wonderfully sweet & salty treat...very addictive!
