Whipping Cream Pound Cake

This recipe was good but not the very best pound cake I have ever tasted. I followed the recipe exactly so my results were as expected. The cake itself had a nice flavor and the crust. I think the almond flavoring adds a nice touch for flavor. The areas of improvement for this cake would be that the texture is a little dry. This is not really a moist pound cake. Also, the butter flavor is very subtle so this cake actually tasted closer to a regular yellow cake with a little twist. It's a nice change but I'll keep looking for that truly home made pound cake recipe.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

This is a wonderful recipe. Followed the directions exactly. The only change I made was in adding 1 teaspoon of lemon flavoring along with the 1 teaspoon of vanilla. That's it! My family really loves this pound cake. I will definitely keep this recipe!

Oven Baked Jambalaya

Not bad for my first try at Jambalya! However, I couldn't follow the recipe exactly because I was not able to find andouille so I substituted smoked beef sausage. I also did not have ham around when I prepared this dish. I did make the creole seasoning using the recipe for the seasoning. The chicken stock from cooking the chicken pieces did not produce 7 cups for me... only about 3 cups so I had to add 2 cans of chicken broth to make up the extra 4 cups. I think the recipe was good but not great! It seemed to have lacked that special punch in taste. Kind of mild as another reviewer noted. It was still a nice meal but just not exciting. I think a little tweaking in the seasonings may help. Also preparation time is pretty lengthy but it does produce a lot. Definitely a meal for a large family or crowd. One pan will probably not hold all of it unless your pan is super large.

Jewish Apple Cake II

A PERFECT apple cake! Just follow the recipe steps and your cake will turn out right! I used 5 apples instead of 3. I found that Granny Smith Apples seem to work much better in this recipe than other types of apples. The first time I followed the recipe, I used golden delicious apples but it taste better with a tart, firm crisp apple like Granny Smith! Also, the orange juice really helps the taste of the cake so don't omit that. But here is a recipe that doesn't require much tweaking. Give it a try!
