I have always had a passion for baking and up until recently I really only did your basic cooking. However since being around my neighbor (she is an expert cook) I have found my self getting more and more interested in how to cook better and try new menus. My kids are getting older now so no more mac and cheese days for us :) I am a stay at home Mom of 4 boys who have some pretty big appetites and I think they are actually starting to steer away from chicken nuggets and everything drenched in ranch dressing lol. I took a few fun cooking classes at the Farm restaurant and hope to some day go to Italy with my neighbor to do a cooking/vacation.
My favorite things to cook
Italian by far! I have so much to learn though. I also love experiment with soups and come up with my own recipes. I use the grill alot and through out the winter months. Baking and desserts. I love Chinese food but I have yet to try that many dishes on my own, for now I will leave that to my favorite restaurant :) I also love to dabble with pizza recipes as I can never get enough
My favorite family cooking traditions
pierogies are a polish family tradition that I couldn't live without. My grandmother made them for Xmas eve and I miss them. She passed away and we have never been able to perfect her recipe. BUT my sister in law now makes the BEST pierogies with a farmers cheese, but really its her own special dough recipe that makes them so great. We do all day cooking marathons and are totally exhausted afterwards but its so worth it. My other tradtions are Christmas baking with my Mom. I will always treasure that.
My cooking tragedies
I made a St Patricks Day dinner for my kids when they were little and dyed a lot of the food green.......well lets just say that is was the ugliest dinner ever!!LOL Trying to be the "fun" Mom and you should of seen my kids faces LOL I dont know what happened but the mashed potatoes were awful and Im not sure if it was because it was the whole green thing or what .....LOL but its funny to think back about now.
