Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2014
Loved this! Easy to make. I gleaned from others' suggestions-- I cooked fresh, seasoned (whatever you like-- salt/ pepper/ garlic/ onion pwdr), chicken breasts on high or 2 1/2 hrs with chicken broth, threw in a chopped up onion. Drained it, kept chicken & onions, shredded chicken, put back in slow cooker on high for an hour with homemade bbq sauce (rachel ray's smoky bbq sauce) and the other ingredients in this recipe. Served on buns with melted white cheddar & california slaw (from this site). Yum!!

Easy-- kids loved it. Even my picky eater. Like others, I browned ground beef with onions and taco seasoning. (I used taco seasoning recipe from this site-- never buy it any more). Yummy!

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2014
I'm not a good baker-- but this turned out GREAT!! I made it as directed, but I did attempt a mid-bake basting of the leftover butter/ buttermilk mixture; the top of bread got a bit browned, I think because of it. I won't do that again, but it doesn't really matter, because regardless, it was a great tasting bread and would go quite well with any soups/ stews. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
Ummmm-mazing! I'm not even a fan of french dips! Bits of advice-- It took longer for my beef to cook. Well, I did a full 7 1/2 hrs, and then put it in another 1/2 hr after slicing. I seasoned the beef with what I had on hand-- onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, parsley & threw several shakes of worchestershire sauce into it. Used regular beef broth, condensed french onion soup, an amber beer. Slice the beef THIN!!! I didn't' put butter on our buns, and it was still amazing. I served it with a dipping sauce that I thought was mind-blowing. Just grabbed some of the broth from the crock pot, and added a squeeze of japanese wasabi and a couple of splashes of red wine vinegar. Everyone was in LOVE This is a big-time keeper!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2014
Made this a few times. The latest was the best! I kept the sauce virtually the same, except I had fresh basil and so I used it (3x fresh to dried ratio). Meatballs-- I did 1/2 lean ground beef, 1/2 italian sausage. I added 1 T fresh thyme, 4.5 T fresh parsley (because they were on hand), 1/2 c. ital bread crumbs and 1/2 c. panko-- again, because that's just what I had.. I did sear the meatballs before adding to the sauce-- but I've cooked without searing, and without the other changes, and it's just a lovely sauce. Kids & hubby loved it. And it freezes well. Play with this recipe-- you won't be disappointed!

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
I make sweet potato casseroles at least once a year for the past 25, and this is my favorite recipe. Not TOO sweet, easy to make and not too loaded with fat (speaking relatively). I did bake the sweet potatoes beforehand.

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
Amazingly quick and easy. Make a lot for an easy gift. I did most of them with pecans, but about a quarter of them I topped with a red or green M&M, for people who don't care for nuts. I followed another reviewers recommendation and, after completely cooled, I melted about 1 cup of white chips with a tsp of shortening, put it into ziplock bag cut in the corner, and drizzled over the candies. They looked an tasted fantastic. EASY!

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
Wow-- Great recipe. One of my favorite chills ever, and I make a lot. Only changes I made-- per other reviews, added a can of black beans, can of garbanzo beans and about a tablespoon of chili powder. And I subbed yellow pepper for the green (hubby's preference). Going into my regular chili rotation!

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2013
Wonderful, simple, traditional recipe. I always dry the bread out longer (like 1 or 2 days, flipping the bread). Also, I add more broth-- it's a personal taste preference. I prep it early in the morning and cook it in a casserole dish coated with cooking spray for 45 minutes at 350, while the turkey is resting. I like it a bit crispy== 30 minutes would be fine. You can tweak it with your own seasonings, but this is a perfect base and tastes wonderful as-is.

Fantastic. Watch the steaming time-- mine were a little too cooked at 8 mins. Should have done 6 & would have been perfect-- but it's still our favorite sprout recipe. And EASY!
