About this Cook
Wife and mommy.
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast foods, bread and cake from scratch (still haven't mastered biscuits though, southern food (fried pickles, gator tail, grits)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade bread and butter, homemade pies during the holidays, cream of mushroom soup with rice
My cooking triumphs
Bread. Chocolate cake with homemade frosting.
My cooking tragedies
Probably the discover that you cant substitute lemon EXTRACT for lemon JUICE. Call me crazy, or absent minded, but it took a while to pick up on the fact that they're just not the same thing! :-/ And...once I made a great vegetarian lasagna (from this site) and my glass dish cracked in the oven! Knowing how it good it would be we took the risk and ate around it...but I was still sad to lose half the lasagna and my dish!

Angela's Oriental Chicken Noodle Soup
I thought this was a good starter recipe. It was a little bland so I did some things to add flavor but it was still lacking something. I liked that it was a one dish meal that I could prepare while juggling the kiddo and the housework, and will definitely make it again with a few extras (chicken broth instead of water, garlic, onion, maybe some of those little corn on the cobs...and some other seasonings)

Yogurt Chocolate Chip Cookies
I didn't use all the brown sugar and used all butter (no shortening), but they came out well. I also used chocolate chip/ mint chips and added some green food coloring and they were delicious. The only issue I had was finding the right cook time. The first batch was a little underdone.

Amish White Bread
This is a very tasty and durable bread. I'm still trying to figure out how to get mine to look like the one in the picture, but if beauty isn't an issue...this bread is definitely worth making :-D
