About this Cook
I am always trying to create new dishes for my hubby and I. I'm always trying to improve my cooking and increase the difficulty of the recipes I try. I'm usually trying to find quick yummy recipes for busy working days and save the more complex recipes for the weekend when I can take the time and enjoy cooking and baking more.
My favorite things to cook
*Low calorie/healthy easy workday meals *Comfort foods *Italian food *Baking
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, quite often on a weekend my Mom would make her famous spaghetti sauce, she would start a huge pot of it early in the morning and let it simmer away all day with her fresh homemade meatballs. By supper time after smelling her delicious sauce waver through the house all day, there was no better comfort food that a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Now I have finally learned to take that sauce recipe and make it my own! I make a huge pot and freeze containers of sauce and meatballs for great quick easy dinners.
My cooking triumphs
Many small triumphs that have helped me continue to grow and become stronger :)
My cooking tragedies
Nothing too tragic

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast
Great, easy comfort food! I threw in a small bag of baby carrots and a couple hours before it was done I added in some sliced fresh mushrooms. Served this with some mashed potatoes and turned out so yummy!! The gravy it makes is soooo good. Will definitely make this one again!

Pat's Potato Salad
This turned out fantastic! I used half the sugar as others advised and I also added celery and a few hard boiled eggs.. I forgot to pick up the parsley but I will try it with it next time. Next time I think I will use half the mustard powder (turned out pretty zingy) and will use green onion instead, if your red onion is strong it will way overpower the salad so I would add a little bit at a time, I ended up sifting through and trying to pick some out, unfortunately my red onion was a bit too strong. Great base recipe that you can throw in any favourite additions you might have.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup
Amazing hearty vegetarian soup. Love it! It freezes well too, which is great for quick lunches for work.
