About this Cook
i've been cooking since childhood & inherited the gift from my great-grandmother & mom. i have to cook, so i do. many days, i'd much rather not... i find it monotonous, so i'm always searching for something that will spark new interest. i bake A LOT, probably more than i should:) i also spend the better part of my summer canning.
My favorite things to cook
cookies, pies, cakes, breads, muffins, apple dumplings, "home cooking" when it comes to dinner. family favorites are chicken & noodles, beef & noodles, chicken enchiladas, burrito casserole, anything with pico de gallo.
My favorite family cooking traditions
my 10 yr old son likes to help. my 13 yr old son has decided that cooking is "women's work". my husband can be helpful if asked, but usually isn't available. i try to involve the guys in christmas baking - always!
My cooking triumphs
i have to admit to being charmed in this one area of life. i rarely have a flop in the kitchen:)
My cooking tragedies
way back when i was first married, i tried boiling an egg in the microwave. unless you enjoy explosions, don't try it!

Caesar Salad Supreme
4 stars only because i was disappointed in the flavor of the dressing, probably because of the dijon mustard. if you search other ceasar dressing recipes, you normally wouldn't find dijon, maybe ground mustard or no mustard at all. i felt the dijon ruined the flavor. next time i would make it without. also, i would bake my croutons, rather than try to pan fry them. (honestly i would rather use my favorite rothbury farms cheese and garlic croutons from the store!)

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana
excellent recipe that very closely mimics the restaurant version with the exception that authentic zuppa toscana requires kale, not spinach.

Ground Beef Curly Noodle
quick, easy & customize-able dish! it didn't win any raves at our house, but it was eaten and with a little bit of creativity, i'm sure it could be made to suit everyone.
