About this Cook
My husband and I live in a retirement community in central Florida. We enjoy the many amenities they offer. We entertain and are invited out to dinner often. I left South Africa many years ago as my husband is American.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes. Such things as roasted vegetables, lasagna, quiches, Italian dishes. Also, Turkish dishes as we lived there for a couple of years.
My favorite family cooking traditions
English Trifle, Fruit Cake at Christmas time, curries, biltong, sosaties, sponge cakes, fruit flan

Chinese Chicken Salad III
We simply loved this salad. I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of Thai Red Curry Paste in place of hot chile paste. The flavors blend together so well and the salad is very pleasing texture wise. The toasted wontons are also a great addition. Thanks Teri.

Black Bean and Corn Salad II
I have made this wonderful salad many times and it is always a hit. I do use half the olive oil called for. Other than that, I follow the recipe exactly. Everyone loves it.

Chicken Korma II
This dish was as good as any chicken Korma I have had in an Indian restaurant. Two things to note, I used fat free coconut milk in place of half and half. Also, several reviewers mentioned that it was a very mild dish. Well, Indian Chili powder is not the same as Mexican and is, in fact, very hot. It can be purchased at an Indian food store. The brand I use is Rajah. It makes a huge difference to the flavor, but use it sparingly.
