solid recipe. i mixed flour and some garlic powder in a bag, tossed the meat in, and coated. i also just tossed in two tablespoons of flour instead of cornstarch. next time i want to try using red potatoes.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
Used 1 batch for 1 lb beef. Used a little less salt, pepper, and cumin. Used about 1/16 tsp cayenne and it was good but too spicy for little kids. Followed suggestion of mixing in 1/2 Tbs flour, sprinkling over meat and adding 2/3 cup water.

Oven Fries

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
Was okay. Left out the cayenne. Mine were done at 25 mins. Next time would remember to use kosher salt. And don't forget to spray foil.

True Bangers and Mash with Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
Sauce was good. Made a lot though and took a while to reduce. Would use a pan next time. I personally did not like dry mustard in the potatoes. Would leave that out next time.

Pan-Seared Tilapia

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2012
Good and easy. I added old bay to the flour. I forgot to salt and pepper. Tested oil by putting a pinch of flour in the oil. However my tilapia tasted fishy.

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
Halved it loosely. Browned hot Italian sausage and removed. then sautéed peppers and onions. Threw in garlic last second and removed from pot. Added beer to deglaze and burn off alcohol. Added paste and oregano. Let simmer for couple minutes. Added sliced sausage and peppers to warm. Could do whole sausages on buns.

Spiced Quinoa

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
one of my fav quinoa recipes. raisins add a sweetness. daughter liked beans, raisins, and pine nuts... a little too spicy for her though. next time i'll leave out the pepper and see if she likes it better. i also used white beans instead of garbanzo. i only used 1/4 c pine nuts and it was enough.

Cheesy Polenta

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
did half whole milk, half 1% milk, and left out the pepper, butter, and cheese. (using polenta as a base for sauce) it was good, but a little salty. would make it just 1 t salt.

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
I cooked the squash for 30 mins in 1-2" water in the oven. The knife could go into the outside easily. The squash was still a little crunchy. Would cook for at least 10 more mins next time.

Broiled Sesame Cod

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
super easy. i didn't have tarragon, but i bet it would be delicious. i kind of want to put shoyu on it instead of butter/lemon/tarragon. good as is, but probably could experiment with flavors.

good.. definitely needs some salt. i did half, but kept the liquids the same. potatoes should be chunky, but not super chunky. maybe try 3/8" slices next time.

i really liked this. i followed recipe, only doubling the chili powder and adding about 1 c of macaroni. it didn't taste mexican, but it was delicious!

Paper Salmon

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
good. i just used squares of parchment, which might have helped the ease of keeping it folded. (folded long edge first, then really rolled up the short ends.) the only drawback was i had to unroll everything to test if it was done. not super flavorful, but good enough.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
followed completely and it was perfect! the only thing is that it took 32 mins to bake in a pyrex pie plate. next time i'm going to use a square pan or muffin tin, just because i think it's easier to cut.

Bacon, Potato, and Egg Taco Ole

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2011
i halved this, and it would have easily fed 3 people. i cut the potatoes the same size you'd see at a restaurant. and i used unpeeled new potatoes. would probably use fewer potatoes. i also added avocado and cheddar cheese and it was good. would probably be good with a little salsa too.
