Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
We love this recipe. With a couple of changes, it turned out just like the one's we had in England. I added 1/2 tsp thyme, 1/4 tsp sage to the other herbs. To the beef broth and tomatoe paste I added 1 T Worcestershire. I cut back the butter to 2 T and the milk to 1/4 cup. MMM good! Thanks Caroline.

Coffee Bonbons

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
This is similar to a recipe my mother-in-law gave me. We dissolve the coffee granules in a teaspoon of boiling water and add it into the first step, with the butter etc. We even make sandwich cookies instead of icing the top. Just flatten the dough balls with the bottom of a glass dipped in icing sugar and bake half the time suggested.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
Like another, I cooked this stove top and it was delicious. I sauteed the meat, onion and garlic, added the rice, cabbage, sauce, broth and a can of seasonal chopped tomates. Covered for 20 minutes and it was ready! Family loved it.

Creamed Salmon on Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I too had this as a child, but my mom made it with canned mushroom soup. She also chopped up a couple of hard boiled eggs and added them to the pot. I think it was to make the food go further.

Asparagus with Sliced Almonds and Parmesan Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
As a change from boiled, I made this for my family and we just loved it. Then I served it at a dinner club we belong to, and everyone said it was great. Now that's the only way we have asparagus. It's so easy too! Thanks for the recipe.
