Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: May 16, 2012
This is the best fudge I have ever had! I'm a first time fudge maker, I followed the instructions, and it came out perfectly. I was afraid that I hadn't beaten it long enough but after about 30 seconds of "have I beaten it long enough? Is it losing its sheen? I think it's losing its sheen..." I just decided to go for it. I had stirred for 12 minutes. After I poured it into the prepared pan, it set up to an amazing velvety soft fudge in about 15 minutes. I should also note that I used almond milk and vegan margarine because my son is allergic to cow's milk protein, and I didn't expect it to turn out at all, I'm amazed that it did!

Wacky Cake VIII

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
This is the moistest, easiest chocolate cake I've ever made. I've only made one better chocolate cake in my life and it was about 20X more complicated than this. I love it! I used the "hard chocolate glaze" from this site to frost it.

Apple Muffins

I thought these were good! This is the first recipe I've made with whole wheat flour that I thought really worked. The first batch I made exactly according to recipe, and I gave 3 stars because they were a little above average to me. I tweaked it the second batch to my liking and obviously liked those better since it was exactly what I wanted, but this is a great recipe to make your own.

These were like bread...dry and crumbly. It would make a pretty good bread but I wanted cookies!

I followed this recipe exactly and these were some seriously good cookies. I would at least double the vanilla if I made them again.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
I prefer the Brooke's Best Brownie's recipe, but this recipe is also amazing. I made these instead because I didn't have any butter. Nice and fudgy. I wish they were a little more chocolatey, I will probably up the cocoa to 1/2 cup next time.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
I was so disappointed in this zucchini bread. It was dry and bland. It was better with an extra half cup of oil and a cup of raisins, but still not very good. Just average. I like my zucchini bread dense and moist.

Israeli Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
So good! Don't make ahead though, I made the huge mistake of making this the night before and the dressing leached all the liquid out of the tomatoes and cucumbers and it was like soup. When it was fresh it was fabulous. If you want to do anything ahead of time, just keep the dressing separate and dress at the last minute. I should have known this, but I wasn't thinking. Definitely keep the mint, it gives a little something, you can't even tell it's mint, it just tastes herbal and good.

Gaye's Microwave Fudge

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I was surprised at how good this is! I doubt I'll be making fudge on the stovetop anytime soon. The only problem I had was that I made it according to the directions, and ended up with little chunks of powdered sugar that I couldn't whisk out. I believe if I had heated the butter and milk separately like lots of others did, I wouldn't have had this problem.

Onion Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2011
This was waaay better than I expected. My husband took one bite and made me taste it, then exclaimed that this is what we're taking to family events from now on. I admit that I did mis-read the directions, I had the onions on the bottom of the pan, then the bread, then poured the soup mix over top of the bread, then put the cheese on top of the bread. All the ingredients, flavors, and cooking time were the same.

Pumpkin Pecan "Brownies"

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2011
I was so excited because of all the great reviews, but I was really disappointed in these. I followed the recipe exactly. I separated the batter into three batches. I baked my first batch for 25 minutes and they were extremely dry, and really bland. I baked the next batch for 20 minutes and they were nice and moist, but still really bland. I added 1/2 cup maple syrup and another teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to the third batch and it was just okay.

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I had no problem with dryness in this recipe at all, it was no more of a dry dough than sugar cookie dough is. I love that I had all the ingredients except the pudding mix in my cupboard already. I really enjoyed the cookies, I think they're a great "holiday" tasting cookie for those who don't like the strong taste of gingerbread. This will be my Christmas gift cookie.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Just the brownie I was looking for! I wouldn't have believed a brownie this dense and fudgy would have a no-oil recipe, but the butter certainly does the job all by itself. These are very chocolaty and rich without being too sweet.

School Cafeteria Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
Really good cookies! My only issue was that for some reason these took waaaaay longer to cook in my oven than the recipe stated, about 14 minutes. Usually my oven runs about 25 degrees hot, so, no idea why. Once they were done they were lovely chewy peanut buttery goodness.
