I didn't particularly love the taste of this banana bread when I first made it. It seemed kind of like it needed something, maybe vanilla, a little walnuts, not really sure. I did like the denser texture, from more likely the butter and the amount of bananas versus the oil and excessive sugar in similar recipes. Also, for whatever reason it seems to taste best refridgerated for a day. With few ingredients, though, it is so easy to mix up and it does bake up nicely. It also doesn't crumble like so many banana bread recipes when sliced. As a result of the texture, it worked well for food gift wrapping. I let it sit out for a day, unwrapped, to dry on top before wrapping. That worked fine. I got my inspiration from the Allrecipes magazine to make it into a food gift from pg. 80 of the December/January 2014 issue. I highly recommend the food gift wrapping suggestions, from page 78-87, in the magazine. I had a round disposable pan and used that instead of the traditional rectangle suggested. I also found tissue paper, pretty ribbon, and gift tags right in my attic and closets, not needing a trip to the store. Some other great ideas are available on the Homemade Holidays section of Allrecipes with a variety of selected recipes and a video on making and wrapping food gifts. Hope that helps!
