Worlds Best Lasagna - with Oregano!
About this Cook
Half Italian and half German, spent first 12 years in Europe. I am a rock-skipping, book-reading, adventure-seeking, world-traveled (34 countries), steak-eating, car-singing (scary), photo-shooting, history-reading, balanced-voting (non-republican), gear-collecting, bbq-cooking, thumbs up-giving, dinner-hosting kind-of-nerd who is a bit of a workaholic (but knows how to relax), mostly on time and well-grounded in my life (but writes really long rambling sentences). Ideal Sunday begins with hot brewed coffee and paper, afternoon exploring the city, then two cooks in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
Anything from "The Around the World Cookbook", by Lorenz Books. I purchased this book 10 years ago today and still use it. Not only does it have over 350 authentic great recipe's from all over the world it has photos of each of the dishes and how they will look while cooking/finished. I often just close my eyes randomly pick a page and make that dish. My second fav cook book is the Pioneer Woman Cooks. If your Ree's twin and single...contact me!
My cooking triumphs
Friday night Mexican Buffet: Snack: homemade chips, fresh salsa & guacamole, cheese dip Salad: Cucumber salad Buffet: quinoa w/black beans, picadillo stuffed green peppers, chicken enchiladas, and burrito bar w/fixens. Drinks: margaritas, mango rum punch, beer, wine, sodas & water Dessert: ice cream w/toppings
My cooking tragedies
If in doubt throw in a can of black beans, red beans, and diced tomatoes with green chilies.

The Real Mojito
Having sipped Mojito's on a couple visits to Havana, I'd say this was spot on!

Lentils And Spinach
Like most others, I tweaked this to our taste. 1 white onion, 1 cup red lentils, 3 cups chicken broth, 1-teaspoon Sri Lankan Curry powder and two large andouile sausages sliced 1/2 inch. Threw it all in a crockpot on high for 3 or 4 hours.

Fried Irish Cabbage with Bacon
I added 2 tablespoon dijan mustard and 1 tablespoon sugar.
