I have been married to David for 17 years.We have one daughter,Sarah and 1 grandson-he was born a month early,just in time for Halloween 2008 .We are very big on family and friends, add some food to that and life doesn't get much better.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook all kinds of foods. My daughter says we never have the same thing twice.I tell her I like the challenge,if the meal turns out well it is time to move on to something else.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking for Halloween. I always make a big pot of chile or soup.I also make lots of cookies and cupcakes. Many of my friends and family come over and eat and go trick or treating. Some of us stay home with the little ones and hand out candy.
My cooking triumphs
I made homemade tamales all by myself! I was so proud, they were perfect!! I never thought I could do that.
My cooking tragedies
One of the first things I tried to make was a Ham and Broccoli bake.It was pretty. Sadly, I should have taken the brown plastic off of the ham after I took the clear plastic off.(I didn't know it was there!!) My husband's family kept picking little pieces out of their mouths. No one told me until months later.

Refried Beans Without the Refry
I have made this recipe several times now and my family just loves it. I use less salt and add a ham bone, amazing taste. I also add more water and cook on low for 10 hours. Perfect every time. I make bean and cheese burritos or Indian tacos out of this.

Juicy Roasted Chicken
I bought a whole chicken because they were on sale-usually I end up naming them and they live in my freezer until I have to trash them. I tried this recipe because of the short list of ingredients and it was amazing!! If you want to make a simple meal into something special this is the one. I had to cook the chicken for 1 hr.and 50 min to hit the proper temperature (my bird was a little bigger.) If you use a meat thermometer,this wont be a problem.

Candied Apples III
I made these for Halloween and they turned out so pretty. I was able to coat 5 big apples.I spread butter on the wax paper before setting the apples on it, no problem with sticking. Great recipe.
