Mom's Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
We loved this recipe! I used cheese it crackers instead of cornflakes (Thats all I had on hand) and i added french fried Onins to the cheese it topping as well. I think I will keep the changes I made next time. I can't imagine this dish without the cheesey cracker addition!

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
I liked this recipe. My husband loved it. I made it as written and decided we like it better with a few changes (increased sugar to 1/3 cup, added handful of sharp cheddar, used a bigger pan and let rise for 45-60 minutes before baking, basted with butter and garlic salt 1/2 way thru baking and at the end (from other reviewers)) definatly a 5 star recipe. I rated 5 star even though I had to make changes to the original recipe because of the ease and quickness of making the bread.

Cheese Dip with Beer

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
I followed the recipe exact and it has a good flavor but a slightly gritty consistancy. Idk if that happened because I couldn't quite melt the cream cheese completely or because that is just how cheddar cheese melts down. It wasn't so gritty that I couldn't eat it but not as smooth as I prefer.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
Best brownies would be accurate! Not too thick or cakey and the perfect denseness that you expect from a brownie without the fudgy-ness...and to top it off, it gets the slightly crunchy edges that I love in a brownie!!!

Bloody Mary Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
I only gave this 4 stars because I personally thought this was a very bland chicken, but with some tweaks a great recipe! I seasoned the chicken with crushed garlic, pepper and celery salt. Poured Mr & Mrs T's bloody Mary Mix over it, added cubed cream cheese evenly around the crock pot, with a dash of tabasco and worchestershire. Let it cook on low for about 6 hours. The chicken was falling apart and very flavorful! I removed the chicken, whisked the sauce just to blend the cream cheese and thickened it to use over the chicken and pasta I prepared to go with it!

White Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
With some changes, this cheese sauce was great! For starters I only used 1/2 the amount of butter called for. I added 1/2 cup flour, wisking it together with the melted butter, then slowly added 1 cup milk (while cooking on LOW heat). Once that was smooth and creamy, I added the cheese, chilies and sour cream. I stirred it often and it is IMPORTANT to cook it slowly on LOW heat. It will take awhile to become a creamy consistancy. I almost gave up, it looked grainy and just not good, but I gave it a little more time and it was perfect!

Chocolate Mousse Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
This was delicious! I have never had a chocolate mousse pie before, but I will definatly make it again. I took the suggestion of some of the reviews and chilled it over night. It was perfect, and the almond extract made a huge difference in this pie. I cant imagine it without!

Strawberry Pretzel Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
This is the perfect combination of sweet and salty! Alot of the other reviewers suggested crushing the pretzels more finely, but I disagree. I think the crust was great. The only suggestions I have is to use fresh strwberries, sliced and frozen and double the cream cheese layer for a 9x13 pan.

Wisconsin Five-Cheese Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This was pretty good...my husband liked it alot. I thought it was good but not great. between the parmesan and ricotta cheese, it seemed a little dry and not as creamy as I had hoped for.....Maybe it needs a little more heavy cream?

Deep-Fried Turkey Marinade

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This is a GREAT marinade/rub! I ran out of black pepper (I know....who runs out od black pepper?) so I skipped that, but used everything else the same. I also chose to grill my turkey instead of frying it (because I didn't have turkey fryer) It was fantastic. Like alot of the other reviews have said....My husband has requested that I always make the turkey this way for Thanksgiving!!!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
This soup was great! I made a few changes....I used half & half instead of milk, I doubled the broccoli and cheese, and instead of mixing the cornstarch into a cup of water, I mixed it into one of the four cans of chicken broth. With all of these changes, my husband said this soup was better than his mom's!!!

Ranch Crispy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
My whole family thought this was disgusting! I followed the recipe exactly as it is wriiten and it tasted like I sprayed the chicken with a household cleaner. Needless to say, we ended up eating cereal for dinner that night.

Halloween Popcorn Pumpkins

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
This was fun & the kids loved how they turned out....I used plain as can be popcorn and followed the recipe exactly and I have to agree with "Duckball" and say that it was way too buttery. Because of all the butter, these ended up not very sweet at all, and so soft that the licorice would not stay in place. Other than that it was overall a good recipe. I will try this recipe again, with a few changes.

Hamburger Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
I gave this a 5 atr rating because this recipe pleased both my husband and my picky daughter! Which is almost impossible! I did make a few changes, but basically stuck to the recipe. I used canned diced tomatoes instead of tomato soup, canned potatoes and carrots (for faster easier cooking) beef broth in place of some of the water, added garlic powder for more flavor and only a 1/2 a pack of taco seasoning. It turned out great! I don't even like most of the ingrediants and I loved it as well! Thanks for this one.

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
I absolutly LOVED this recipe. I hate green beans, and this recipe changed the flavor just enough to make me not only eat them to "lead by example" (for my daughter) but I actually liked them...but I wasn't the only one! The whole family liked them. My husband had SIX helpings himself! They are evn good without the parmesan! Thanks for this. Now I can enjoy my veggies too!

Dump Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2007
This is a great cake....My version of this cake is a little different. I use chocolate cake mix (mmmm....) and I add whole pecans to the top of the cake before I put the sliced butter on top. Also, it is not necissary to mix the pineaplle and cherries together. Layering will do just fine.

Overall a good recipe. I omitted the salt, used fresh garlic and had to thicken with cornstarch. Good flavor.

Tater Tot Casserole I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
Overall a great starter recipe. I made a few changes according to my preferences. I used 4 eggs instead of 2. I also thought it needed more meat. So, I tried 2 Lbs. of pork sausage. I also tried 1 Lb. pork sausage combined with 1 Lb. bacon. It gave it much better flavor and texture. Mmmmmmmmm....
