California Bean Dip

This dip was a huge hit at my last tailgate party. Everyone wanted the recipe! I added diced red pepper and black eyed peas and also used red onion instead of white. Very easy and quick to prepare. Thanks!!!!

Grandma Snyder's Oatmeal Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2002
I was so glad to find this recipe as I had lost the one given to me as a bridle shower gift along with a cake pan. I like to make this for potlucks and church suppers. Very good.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2002
These were very good christmas cut out cookies. While they do get crispy after they cool and are waiting to be frosted they soften up after being frosted. They rolled out much easier than others and did not stick to the counter. I added a little nutmeg to the batter to give them more flavor.

Awesome Crab Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2002
We really loved this soup. I used twice the amount of broth because I could not find white gravey mix in my local store. It was our Christmas eve soup with enough left over for a lunch a few days later. Try it, you will like it.

Banket

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2001
After years of making Banket for Christmas, and not getting the flaky crust I desired I tried this one and voila, it was great. Every time I take a bite I think of my Dutch gramdmother with her yard long braids wrapped around her head and her full apron on, working in the kitchen. Thanks for the help.

Rugelach

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
I really liked this recipe and will make it again. We waited the full 24 hours and also the 20 minutes before baking and it worked well. We did a brown sugar walnut and also an almond paste filling and both are great. Thanks.

Caramel Apple Cake from Betty's Kitchen®

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2001
Very nice little cake, except for one thing. It really lacked a rich flavor. It was very sweet with all the sugar and it supprised me that the carmel ends up on the bottom so I inverted it for serving. Next time I am going to add some nutmeg to the batter and maybe some alspice to give it some wow. Enjoyed it for breakfast the next morning warmed in the micro.

We liked this very much. I added chopped garlic and used bottled bloody mary juice instead of the plain tomotoe juice and it was very good. Thanks

Lighter Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2002
I am glad that I tried these muffins. While they are a bit chewy due to the lack of oil, the trade off is worth it. Knowing that they are low fat makes you feel better about eating them. I am tired of oil and sugar saturated muffins, so these are great. I added half a teaspoon of cinnamon and used four bananas because that is what I had, also added three eggs by mistake so that shows you they are fool proof.

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2001
While this was a nice coffee cake it was not the gooey moist cake I expected. It also was impossible to remove from my bundt pan after letting it completely cool as directed. If I make it again I will put it in my angelfood pan and line the bottom with parchment for easy removal.
