Simple Savory Pork Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2014
Fabulous! I've NEVER made any kind of roast in the oven before. Imagine my trepidation! But this was so easy and so tasty, I feel emboldened! I'm too lazy to throw spices in a bag and shake it all up; I just rubbed the spices right into the roast. You can't miss with this recipe. Try it. I'm tellin ya, I'm superwoman over here!

Best Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
To make the pasta "bite-sized," I broke it down into six pieces as I put it into the boiling water. This is a very good soup that's even better the next day. Freezes well.

Sweet Sausage Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
So I was tasked with bringing a “savory” food dish to our swim team’s hospitality room during a recent two-day swim meet. Since the meet started at 8 a.m., I wanted to bring something “breakfast-y”, so I doubled the batch and brought these in (even though I had never tried them). GONE! Within minutes! I figured that they must have been very popular so I decided to make them again the next day. I found out later that the meet officials were asking “if the little smoked sausages would be coming back.” This time I stuck around and witnessed the officials devour them. One of them immediately popped one into his mouth and, while chewing, muttered “these are insane!” The head of hospitality came up to me and complained “Did you see that stroke-and-turn judge take six sausages! Six! I didn’t even get a chance to get one!” Bottom line here is that you can’t go wrong with this appetizer. They darn near started a stampede at the swim meet!

Easy. Fast. Tasty. Will experiment with adding some cornstarch next time because I really want that sticky aspect.

Boston Iced Tea

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
After sampling this tea for the first time, I was thrilled I had found the recipe. This recipe makes a GALLON of tea and I was certain I would be able to have a glass of it at my cookout last weekend. Wrong! This tea DISAPPEARED right away while all the other drinks sat on the counter. "Please pass that Boston tea" was what I kept hearing. I've made it with just 1/2 a cup of sugar and it's just as good. Try this. It's great!

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I have to give this recipe one star, I'm sorry to say. The meatballs were a little on the dry side and fairly tasteless (which amazed me because I really anticipated all that wonderful garlic in the mixture). There wasn't quite enough sauce, and the bread overpowered the meat. My Superbowl guests ended up eating some of the meatballs with a fork and even then, most of it was discarded. One star for presentation, however.

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2007
This is one fantastic recipe. My husband doesn't like lasagna, but agreed to try this one and he's absolutely SOLD on it. I made two small changes. I swapped in ricotta for the cottage cheese as so many others have done. But I also smashed, diced, and threw in 3 cloves of garlic at the "saute the onion" stage. I'm grateful that Linda had such a great recipe, and I'm thankful her daughter Rhonda is kind enough to share it with the world.
