About this Cook
I live in Seattle with my wonderful husband and our golden retriever. I am a fifth grade teacher and use cooking to relax and transition from work/school to home. I enjoy the artistic side and challenge of cooking. My husband loves eating! :)
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy finding new ways to add flavor to meals - marinades, sauces, etc. I also have found I am pretty good at baking. I make a killer cheesecake, key lime pie, and coconut cream pie. I enjoy seeing those I love enjoy food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking and food has never been emphasized in my family. My mom in particular wonders where I got my love for cooking!
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for a party of 35 in our backyard - that is a triumph to me! :)
My cooking tragedies
My husband and I absolutely LOVE Thai food. We have our favorite restaurant of course, and I'm sure we'd eat there every night if possible. Since that is not an option, I have tried to replicate our favorite Thai dishes at home - never good. They always resemble the flavors, but something is always missing. I have given up on making Thai at home...forever!!

Potato Leek Soup I
Very delicious! I followed the recipe as written. Turned out great. I especially like that you don't use any cream...much healthier option. Thanks for sharing!

Pecan Pie V
I was disappointed with this recipe. It tasted like pecan pie, but had a very odd look to it. It didn't have the crusty, delicious, brown top, but almost looked like a brown foamy layer. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I covered it up with some homemade whipped cream, but I won't make it again.

Guinness(R) Corned Beef
This was good. I made it for a St. Patrick's Day dinner and really enjoyed it. I shredded the corned beef and served it on crusty rolls with horseradish and cabbage. Everyone absolutely loved it. I had never had corned beef before, and I will make it again! :)
