Used to be an eat-out, carry-out kind of person. Didn't buy much at the store except cereal and snacks. Now I have more time than money so I cook.
My favorite things to cook
Have always enjoyed baking and sharing what I make with friends and family. I wish I made better bread, it's okay but nothing special. I also love to make soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of my favorite memories from when I was young was watching my mom and dad in the kitchen together making fudge and divinity.
My cooking triumphs
I was very proud of a Thanksgiving dinner I made for my parents years ago. Everything was healthy and low-fat - and delicious, or so I thought. Years later Mom admitted that they went to a restaurant on the way home cuz Dad was still hungry. LOL!
My cooking tragedies
No matter what I do, I can't make Chinese food that tastes like carry-out. Don't tell me I need a certain pot or pan or spice or recipe because it's been 30 years and I have tried everything. I am Chinese cooking impaired.
