Orange Fluff I

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2003
I made this for a baby shower and it was a split reaction. People were asking what the chunks were and some cringed when I said cottage cheese. I admit, I didn't drain the pineapple and I should have. I thought the taste was great but it was too runny. To stiffen it up, I added coconut and it tasted even better. Next time, I will drain the cottage cheese and the pineapple along with the oranges.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2003
I made these, searching for a new recipe for cut-out Christmas cookies. They were just what I was looking for! Unlike other people, I found the dough really easy to work with - it just has to be cold. They taste excellent with either colored sugar or frosting!

Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2004
I made this for my a family gathering.. We all love key lime pie and have had it at most restaurants that serve it.. My husband said it was the best he has ever tasted! It was a huge hit! I added grated lime zest, used a lemon and a lime for the juice, and added pureed raspberries for a sauce to go with it for color. It was so good!!!

4H Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2004
I just pulled it out of the oven and needed to give it a try right away - it smelled so good! I added the cinnamon, vanilla, and substituted 1/3 c. brown sugar for the white. It's really good straight out of the oven!! I don't know if it will still be around to try it cooled!! Thanks for the great recipe and additions from everyone!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2004
This was a great change of pace from the usual sloppy joes! I used 1 c. of ketchup and added worsteshire and tobasco sauce and omitted the peppers (my husband won't eat them!). They were delicious!

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: May 17, 2004
I am so glad I tried this recipe!! It's so good! Not too sweet, maybe even a little tart. My diabetic mother loved that it didn't have a ton of sugar! I used fresh berries - more like 5 cups. It was great!!! Thanks!!

Linguine with Scampi

Reviewed: May 21, 2004
I have made this recipe 3 or 4 times, and every time I do, my husband and I sit and think about our arteries clogging afterward. It seems very rich.. Don't get me wrong, it is DELICIOUS! I think I will try it with olive oil instead of the butter and see what that tastes like..

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: May 22, 2004
I really liked this recipe! I did add lots of different seasonings like chili powder, garlic powder, dried mustard to the flour. I used frozen carrots and baby carrots - the 'real' carrots were much better than the frozen! I think next time I will add fresh green beans too. I added worcestershire to the onion soup. It was a little runny, and I used cornstarch instead of flour, and it turned out perfect!!!!

Strawberry Fluff

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2004
This is a great salad! I think it's a little too sweet with two full packets of gelatin, I added one for the second batch and it was just right! All-in-all very easy and tastes great!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2004
YUM, YUM, YUM. I don't care if anyone else likes them in my house, because I'm gonna eat them all!! (I used butter instead of marg. and probably made them smaller than the recipe calls for because I got 3 dozen little cookies!)

Holiday Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
Looking back, it was a risky move to use this for the first time on Christmas Eve for people who are very picky about their stuffing.. Well, the risk paid off - everyone LOVED it! This is a great recipe!!!!

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
I should have doubled the spices like everyone else, but I wanted to try the recipe EXACTLY as it was and see if it was any good. It was just ok - the taste just didn't do it for me. They are a nice texture, but don't have enough zip. I will try them again with more spice because the texture is so good. I made smaller balls (more like 3/4") because I like smaller cookies, and it gave me 4 dozen cookies.

Ginger Snaps II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2005
I made two kinds of ginger snaps - both from this site. The first were "mom's ginger snaps" and the second recipe was this one. Hands down, this one is the better of the two. The only thing I will do next time is add about 1/4 tsp salt instead of 1/2 like it calls for. That's just a personal preference, though. I also added about 1/4 tsp of cloves for added kick. All-in-all, this is a very good recipe!!!!

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2005
I made this with no powdered sugar (because I was out of it) and it was still really good. I was trying to duplicate something I had on a baked sweet potato at a restaurant recently, and I was baking a sweet potato last night so I made this. It was AWESOME!! I love the taste. It was a little pasty, but for what I use it for, I didn't care! It all just melted together and tasted heavenly!

Berry Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
I used blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and rhubarb. All-in-all it turned out very yummy. I used about 8 cups of fruit, so I doubled the flour and used about 1 1/4 c. sugar. I usually don't make berry pies and have learned my lesson to let it sit overnight before cutting it. I couldn't help myself, cut into it warm and it was VERY runny - but the next morning it was all set up, so I think I had about the right measures of flour and sugar.. Just didn't have the patience to wait to eat it!!! The crust is perfect. I will use that recipe again for other pies. It's just the right mix of crunchy and flaky.

Pumpkin Cookies V

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2005
These cookies are so yummy! They take quite a while to make, and the recipe makes a TON of cookies, but they were gone in no time! I used a 1/2 inch cookie scoop and it made 70 cookies. They are small enough to pop in your mouth, and great for kids because they're not too sweet. I found they taste best when refrigerated.
