Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
Very good! I made them with tomato sauce instead of soup and they turned out just perfect! My husband said he likes them better than my "usual" ones. That is a huge compliment - he really likes the "usual". Thanks for a good, solid recipe!

Angel Whispers

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2006
These are pretty good! I added about 1/4 c. light sour cream to the cookie mixture (because of the dryness factor) and they turned out very good! I undercooked them a bit - they're a little doughy inside, but still very good. I didn't make sandwiches, rather just frosted them with the filling. It's very tasty, although I don't know if I like the stickiness of the filling. I think some sort of lemon icing might be better if you just frost them like I did. But, all-in-all they are yummy little cookies!

Sophie's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
Yum! I made them with 1/2 soy oil and 1/2 applesauce. I used 1-1/3 c. white and 2/3 c. brown sugar. With the changes, this bread is super moist, and really tasty. I've never made Zucchini bread before, and this is the last recipe I'll try. My search is over.

Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2006
Wow, we loved this recipe! Mmy husband and I ate half of it right after it came out of the oven! There are so many good things about this recipe, but the best is that it doesn't have tons of fat! I used fresh peaches and sprinkled a little cinnamon and brown sugar on top. YUM! I can't wait to make it with other kinds of fruit.

Rhubarb Bread I

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
This is a great recipe! I used rhubarb fresh from the garden - maybe 2-3 cups and I added coconut to the topping for some crunch - YUM. I don't see how people think it's too sweet! The only thing I found is that it has to cook longer than stated - about an hour - and it is so moist that it needs to be tented with foil for the last 20 minutes or so. This one is going into my 'favorites' file!!

Jimmy Dean Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
I used the reduced fat sausage and all of the optional ingredients. I don't like cheddar cheese, so I used Monterrey Jack (it melts nicer). I had about 10 people for brunch, and everyone liked it - there was none left!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2006
These were pretty good. Not the best cookies I've ever had, but they are very good. Right out of the oven, I wasn't too impressed with the taste or texture of the cookies, but after sitting overnight, they seemed to taste better. One thing, when you take them out of the oven, they don't look done, but if you let them sit on the cookie sheet for about 10 minutes, they firm up.

Chocolate Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2005
Last year I made these with regular Bacardi. This year I made them with Malibu rum. I like them much better with Malibu.. Now I want to make them with a raspbery or vanilla flavored rum.. I don't see how you could screw this recipe up! Everyone just raves over them!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2005
I wish I could give these more than five stars! These are better than banana bread! I made mini muffins and got about 36 large minis. Next time I will not fill up the cups to the top because they rise quite a bit and all ran together. But the taste is EXCELLENT!!!!

No Peek Irish Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
For a basic beef stew recipe, this is very good. I did have to change it though. I tossed the beef in 3 Tbsp. regular flour with lemon pepper, chili powder, and garlic powder. I browned it with a little olive oil. I put it in the crock pot (because I needed my oven for other baking) and it turned out fine. The other change I made was using 1/2 c. V-8 and 1/2 c. bloody mary mix. I thought it would give it a little kick, and it did. In the last about 20 minutes, I added a cup of frozen peas for some color. Along with lots of salt and pepper, it turned out great. This recipe is a great base to build off of and add whatever you like for flavors!

Pumpkin Cookies V

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2005
These cookies are so yummy! They take quite a while to make, and the recipe makes a TON of cookies, but they were gone in no time! I used a 1/2 inch cookie scoop and it made 70 cookies. They are small enough to pop in your mouth, and great for kids because they're not too sweet. I found they taste best when refrigerated.

Berry Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
I used blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and rhubarb. All-in-all it turned out very yummy. I used about 8 cups of fruit, so I doubled the flour and used about 1 1/4 c. sugar. I usually don't make berry pies and have learned my lesson to let it sit overnight before cutting it. I couldn't help myself, cut into it warm and it was VERY runny - but the next morning it was all set up, so I think I had about the right measures of flour and sugar.. Just didn't have the patience to wait to eat it!!! The crust is perfect. I will use that recipe again for other pies. It's just the right mix of crunchy and flaky.

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2005
I made this with no powdered sugar (because I was out of it) and it was still really good. I was trying to duplicate something I had on a baked sweet potato at a restaurant recently, and I was baking a sweet potato last night so I made this. It was AWESOME!! I love the taste. It was a little pasty, but for what I use it for, I didn't care! It all just melted together and tasted heavenly!

Ginger Snaps II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2005
I made two kinds of ginger snaps - both from this site. The first were "mom's ginger snaps" and the second recipe was this one. Hands down, this one is the better of the two. The only thing I will do next time is add about 1/4 tsp salt instead of 1/2 like it calls for. That's just a personal preference, though. I also added about 1/4 tsp of cloves for added kick. All-in-all, this is a very good recipe!!!!

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
I should have doubled the spices like everyone else, but I wanted to try the recipe EXACTLY as it was and see if it was any good. It was just ok - the taste just didn't do it for me. They are a nice texture, but don't have enough zip. I will try them again with more spice because the texture is so good. I made smaller balls (more like 3/4") because I like smaller cookies, and it gave me 4 dozen cookies.

Looking back, it was a risky move to use this for the first time on Christmas Eve for people who are very picky about their stuffing.. Well, the risk paid off - everyone LOVED it! This is a great recipe!!!!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2004
YUM, YUM, YUM. I don't care if anyone else likes them in my house, because I'm gonna eat them all!! (I used butter instead of marg. and probably made them smaller than the recipe calls for because I got 3 dozen little cookies!)
