Bacon Water Chestnut Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
These are amazing and disappear quickly no matter where I bring them. I use turkey bacon to cut down on the grease and fat. I put toothpicks into each one before placing on the serving platter. So easy and so delicious. Thanks for the recipe!

Black Bean and Corn Salad II

This was really good. I don't like cilantro, so I omitted it from the recipe. Otherwise, I left everything else the same.

Chocolate Torte

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
This is the best chocolate cake from scratch that I have ever made. I followed the recipe exactly and wouldn't change a thing. I was skeptical about the whipped cream between layers and almost used the icing instead. I am glad I didn't! Thank you so much for this recipe. It is a keeper!

Aunt Johnnie's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
This is moist and wonderful. It's a hit no matter where I take it. The only change I made to the recipe was to use vanilla instead of almond flavor (don't particularly like almond).

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
This recipe is easy and delicious. The only change I made was to use diet Mountain Dew. One suggestion I have is to roll out the dough triangles to make them a bit wider. This made it much easier to wrap and encase the apple slice.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
I finally found a great recipe to enhance the boxed cake mix. I cut back on the oil as others had suggested and baked it in a 9 x 13 pan. It came out great! I also used the Satiny Chocolate Glaze from this site that others had also suggested. The combination is excellent.

Pan Fried Halibut Steak with Light Green Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
I was looking for a recipe for fish that had a sauce a little bit different than what you would expect to find. This one caught my eye. It was really, really good. My husband and I both enjoyed it. I made the recipe as written and won't change a thing.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This pie was delicious. The only thing I changed was to add 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 tsp. nutmeg to the syrup before pouring over the apples. This recipe replaced the apple pie recipe I have been using for years! Thank you Grandma Ople!

German Chocolate Cake III

I made this for a friend's birthday. It was a huge hit. The cake is moist, but not too sweet. I'm not a fan of coconut, but I have to say I enjoyed the cake. I will be making this again.

Walnut-Filled Pillows

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
This recipe is amazing!! It is time consuming to make but well worth the effort. The only change I made to the recipe was to fold the dough into triangles instead of rectagles. My first batch took forever for me to make, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to make them relatively quickly. It is important that there is a good seal when the dough is folded over to make the pillow. I found that if I picked up the pillow and pinched the edges together, the seal held up better during baking. This is recipe is a keeper!

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
I wish I could give this recipe 10 stars! This is a simple recipe with few ingredients and is sooooo versatile. By changing the type of sausage or the cheese used, you can make this recipe your own. I have found that using chicken sausage instead of pork sausage works better for me. So many people I know don't eat pork, and the lower calorie count doesn't hurt either. The chicken sausage gives the recipe a milder sausage taste, which I like. If you want a little "kick" in the flavor, use pepperjack cheese. I also lightly grease the pan prior to baking. The chicken is not as greasy as the pork and may stick. I have also used Scone mix instead of muffin mix (supermarket was out of muffin mix), and the recipe turned out just fine. If you keep the size of the balls small, you won't have to precook the meat as others have suggested. Just be sure to have a copy of this recipe on hand when you serve it!
