A very light dessert that is easy to make. It also looks really good as well. I did not change anything in the recipe.

Aunt Johnnie's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
This is moist and wonderful. It's a hit no matter where I take it. The only change I made to the recipe was to use vanilla instead of almond flavor (don't particularly like almond).

Very moist cake with a nice texture. I just didn't like the taste of apples and chocolate together.

This cake is fabulous. I didn't change anything. I baked it and brought it to work. It was finished in 15 minutes. It's that good.

Finnish Cookie Sticks

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
Let me first say that for taste and presentation, this recipe is easily 5 stars. HOWEVER, if patience isn't your thing, I wouldn't try these. I found the dough to be fragile and difficult to work with. The whole coating process is messy and time-consuming. After removing my 1st batch from the oven, I waited the 5 min to remove them from the cookie sheet as instructed. Saying the cookies were cemented to the cookie sheet would be an understatement. I practically had to chisel them off. So my first batch was basically ruined. I did not wait the 5 min for my second batch, and they turned out fine. By the third batch, I was out of patience and just rolled the remaining dough into balls, threw them all at once into the remaining egg, and then threw them all at once into the sugar and almond mixture. This is what I probably should have done right from the start. I swore I would never make them again, but they were a hit no matter where I took them. I will probably atttempt again and see how things go.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
I brought this to work for a treat. I usually like spinach/artichoke dip, but this recipe just didn't cut it. My co-workers said it was OK, but I ended up throwing most of it out at the end of the day. I won't be making this again.

Walnut-Filled Pillows

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
This recipe is amazing!! It is time consuming to make but well worth the effort. The only change I made to the recipe was to fold the dough into triangles instead of rectagles. My first batch took forever for me to make, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to make them relatively quickly. It is important that there is a good seal when the dough is folded over to make the pillow. I found that if I picked up the pillow and pinched the edges together, the seal held up better during baking. This is recipe is a keeper!

Very good cookie recipe. What I really like about it is how quick and easy it is to prepare and bake. This is a great recipe if you need something quick. I took them to work, and they were a big hit.

Cassata Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
This cake is absolutely delicious. I gave it only a 4 because I, too, found the filling to be too loose. I used whole milk ricotta and drained it as others have suggested, but it was still too loose. I will definitely be making this again, but I will have to make some modifications to the filling.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
This pie was delicious. The only thing I changed was to add 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 tsp. nutmeg to the syrup before pouring over the apples. This recipe replaced the apple pie recipe I have been using for years! Thank you Grandma Ople!

Cheesecake Cookie Cups

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This is a very easy recipe to bake, transport and serve. Since the chocolate chip cookie bar comes in packages of 24, I doubled the recipe and took them to work. The flavor isn't bad, but I left off the fruit topping because I found the flavor over powered the cheese filling. Even with the topping left off, I still found the cheesecake flavor was over powered by the cookie. However I will say that they were a hit at work and disappeared quickly.

Sauteed Scallops with Watercress and Corn Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
This recipe is quick and easy. The watercress salad is amazing! I followed the recipe exactly, and the result was delicious. The next time I make it, however, I will increase the amount of mustard to give the scallops more flavor. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. This is a keeper.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
I finally found a great recipe to enhance the boxed cake mix. I cut back on the oil as others had suggested and baked it in a 9 x 13 pan. It came out great! I also used the Satiny Chocolate Glaze from this site that others had also suggested. The combination is excellent.
