Charleston Shrimp 'n' Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
Delicious as written. I served it over rice. I have also made it with a little Old Bay spice added to the shrimp to give it a little kick. Either way, it is a keeper.

Angel Family Chicken Soup with Matzo Balls

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
I made this on a chilly, rainy day. I followed the recipe exactly except I left out the rotisserie chicken. What a perfect comfort food. I have also made this and strained everything out at the end so I was left with only broth and matza balls. It's even delicious that way! Either way this is a keeper! Thanks to the Angel Family!

Fantastic Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
I love lemon, so I was so excited to find this recipe. Unfortunately it was just OK for me. I thought the pecan pie crust detracted from the flavor of the rest of the pie. I may try this again with a regular pie crust.

Slow Cooker Chicken Parisienne

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
Followed the recipe exactly. As others have said, there was a funny taste to this that I could not quite place. It was bland on top of that as well. Will not be making this again. Sorry.

Strawberry Torte

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2011
This dessert is easy, looks amazing and tastes great. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I cannot stand using frozen strawberries for garnish!!! PLEASE, do yourself a favor and garnish this with fresh strawberries. So you don't waste the frozen strawberries, cook them with the glaze and increase the cornstarch to 1 1/2 Tbs. Another reviewer mashed the strawberries before cooking, but that is not necessary. The strawberries will break apart during cooking. The result is a glaze with strawberry pieces throughout giving it texture (if you are looking for a smooth glaze, this is not for you). If you use unsweetened frozen strawberries, I suggest you add sugar to the glaze during cooking. With these modifications, this is definately a 5 star dessert!!

Glazed Meatloaf II

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
This meatloaf is amazing. It is moist and flavorful. The glaze really adds to the flavor. The only change I made was to double the glaze. I will be making this again.

Old Fashioned Apple Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2011
This was fabulous. The only change I made the first time I made this was to leave out the lemon zest because my family doesn't like it. The custard is delicious and really goes well with the apples. I also like the fact that the apples are cooked on the stove and not in the oven. I have made this pie again adding cinnamon and nutmeg to the apples while cooking. With the addition of these two spices, I give this recipe a five-star rating.

Sopapilla Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
I am not a fan of crescent roll recipes by any stretch of the imagination. This recipe, however, is not to be believed. It gets 5 stars for preparation (it is so easy) and then 5 stars for taste. Brought it to work. It was a huge hit, and everyone asked for the recipe. Even my non-baking co-workers went home and made this.

Mushroom and Spinach Ravioli with Chive Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2011
The ravioli was time consuming to make but well worth it. These were delicious. The only change I made to the recipe was to add some garlic to the butter chive sauce. I'll be making these again!

This is fabulous. So much better than boxed pudding pies. I didn't change a thing. A hit no matter where I take it.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
Absolutely delicious and worth the time and effort. The only thing I changed was to strain the raspberry seeds before cooking as others had suggested.

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
My husband and I loved this recipe. I made it on top of the stove instead of the oven. It is so simple to make. I have made this with the sauce and without the sauce. It tastes great either way.

Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
This was very good but a little bland. With the addition of some garlic and a few other seasonings, it will definately be a 5 star recipe. The perfect meal for a cold winter day.

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
I wish I could give this recipe 10 stars! This is a simple recipe with few ingredients and is sooooo versatile. By changing the type of sausage or the cheese used, you can make this recipe your own. I have found that using chicken sausage instead of pork sausage works better for me. So many people I know don't eat pork, and the lower calorie count doesn't hurt either. The chicken sausage gives the recipe a milder sausage taste, which I like. If you want a little "kick" in the flavor, use pepperjack cheese. I also lightly grease the pan prior to baking. The chicken is not as greasy as the pork and may stick. I have also used Scone mix instead of muffin mix (supermarket was out of muffin mix), and the recipe turned out just fine. If you keep the size of the balls small, you won't have to precook the meat as others have suggested. Just be sure to have a copy of this recipe on hand when you serve it!

Chocolate Torte

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
This is the best chocolate cake from scratch that I have ever made. I followed the recipe exactly and wouldn't change a thing. I was skeptical about the whipped cream between layers and almost used the icing instead. I am glad I didn't! Thank you so much for this recipe. It is a keeper!

Bacon Water Chestnut Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
These are amazing and disappear quickly no matter where I bring them. I use turkey bacon to cut down on the grease and fat. I put toothpicks into each one before placing on the serving platter. So easy and so delicious. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Mousse Torte

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
This is a quick and easy dessert that is a crowd pleaser. It looks great and tastes even better. I wasn't too thriilled with the vanilla wafters (I never really liked them) so the next time I made it I used lady fingers instead. With that change, this recipe is 5 stars.

Veronica's Apple Pancakes

This is a nice change from regular pancakes. For me, however, something was missing. I am going to have to play with this recipe a bit. But overall, a good pancake recipe.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
This recipe is easy and delicious. The only change I made was to use diet Mountain Dew. One suggestion I have is to roll out the dough triangles to make them a bit wider. This made it much easier to wrap and encase the apple slice.
