Cookie in a Jar

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
What a great gift idea! The first time I put all of the ingredients into a jar, all of it didn't fit. I tried again and REALLY packed down the brown sugar and it all fit! I continued on to make 4 more jars and it was all a perfect fit! Thanks for the great idea!

Quick Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
WOW!! What an amazing cookie this recipe makes! I took the advice of some reviewers and put the batter into the fridge for a 1/2 hour before rolling into balls and it was easy to work with. I also used brown instead of white sugar and it turned out fantastic! This is the only peanut butter cookie recipe I will ever make! Thanks so much!

Cone Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
I made these for my son's 3rd birthday and they were quite a hit! I had these many years ago at another party and unless you have an VERY tasty cake recipe, these will taste bland. I don't like buying store bought items, however for this I did buy a vanilla cake mix and it was quite tasty. I also made an amazing frosting from this site - White Cake Frosting 1 and piped it onto the cones. They literally looked like ice cream cones from Dairy Queen! Add some little sprinkles, crushed cookies - whatever you like! Thanks so much for this recipe!!

Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I was extremely disappointed with this recipe especially since it has so many great reviews. I didn't change anything and my cookies turned out hard and crunchy and there didn't seem to be any distinct difference in taste using the pudding. Thanks, however I'll continue my search for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Lemon Cranberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
I have made these muffins numerous times now and they are so yummy!! I took the suggestion of a few reviewers and made some changes - substituted the 1/2 cup oil for 1/4 cup oil and 1/3 cup applesauce, added 1 tsp vanilla and used the zest and juice of 1 lemon instead of the lemon extract. Tim Horton's has nothing on these tasty treats!!!

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2010
VERY TASTY!! This is such a great marinade and I would not have guessed that using the ingredients listed. I omitted the salt and used a less sodium soy sauce and it was delicious!! Thanks so much for the recipe - its a keeper!!

Tea Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
WONDERFUL!! These biscuits are so easy to make! The taste & texture are great as well! Instead of rolling out the dough and cutting into rounds, I simply pulled pieces of the dough apart and patted into 1/2 inch rounds. It saved time and turned out perfect! I don't bake with salted butter, only unsalted and the biscuits didn't come out too salty as noted by other reviewers. I also added 1/3 cup finely chopped ham and 1/3 cup of shredded cheese for a savoury biscuit - yummy! Next I'll try raisins. Thanks for such a great recipe!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
I liked this recipe, however my husband and my 2 year old son LOVED it! I found it a little sweet, so I'm going to use only 2 tbsp of molasses next time. I also added 2 cloves of crushed garlic, no salt and used 2 tbsp of onion powder instead of onion because my husband can't eat onions. I also placed the beans with the water and the rest of the ingredients in the crock pot for 8 hours on low. Will definitely make this again! Thanks for the recipe!

Green Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
Although I made some changes, this is a spectacular tasting salad! First, I used 1 1/2 cups each of frozen green beans & corn instead of canned (one reviewer asked if they should be cooked first - no, simply put into a strainer, run under water and toss into bowl. This keeps them crisp!) I also added a can of 5 bean medley (Unico brand), didn't use pimentos, used red pepper instead of green, 1/2 cup of sugar instead of 1 cup and 2 tbsp of onion powder instead of onion because my husband can't eat onions. What a great tasting salad for summer! Thanks so much!

Easy Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

I followed this recipe exactly as is and my husband and I were disappointed with it. It just didn't have that "zing" to it for us.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
This dough is fabulous!!!!!!!!! I am waiting for the bread pan in my bread maker to be replaced, so I thought I would do it by hand with this recipe. Wow - it's great!! The crust holds up very well after baked with all of the toppings and it doesn't become limp or soggy afterwards. I agree with other reviewers that the crust doesn't have much "taste", however I don't eat pizza for the crust. Its the sauce & toppings that make a pizza taste great. When I made pizza dough in the bread maker, I used beer instead of water. When I made this recipe for the first time, I did it exactly as is except only used 2 1/2 cups of flour. Next time, I'm going to try the beer in this recipe!! I can hardly imagine that it could get any better! Thanks for this fantastic recipe!! I'm using this one from now on!

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Excellent crust!! I used this for the "Chicken Pot Pie IX" recipe from this site and it was very tasty!! I'm not a huge fan of using alot of shortening, so I substituted 1-1/4 cup butter & 1/2 cup of shortening to replace the 1-3/4 cups of shortening. The dough was very easy to use - thanks so much!!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Yummy!!! This was an excellent tasting pot pie! I used leftover turkey from Christmas. I omitted the celery and celery seed and added corn. My husband cannot digest onions so I replaced them with 4 tbsp of onion powder. For the crust, I used "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust" from this site as well and it was fantastic! This one is a keeper!! Thank-you!!

Butter Tart Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
Fabulous recipe! I don't understand why anyone is saying the crust is bland. Using tart shells or making your own does not make for a better tasting crust. The yummy part is the filling and these were great! I made a batch with and without raisins and they both came out great. I used a 9x13 pan so the crust wasn't as thick as some said it would be. I also baked them for 35 minutes, then let them cool completely and put them into the fridge for an hour to set before cutting. Perfect!! These are far better than the tart shells - its a keeper! Thanks for the recipe!

Fresh Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
The dressing is extremely tasty and does make the salad (as most dressings do!). The only change I made was substitue onion powder for the onion as my hubby has a digestive problem with onions. I used about 3 tbsp. I also only made 1/2 of the recipe and still had plenty of dressing!! Thanks!!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Simply delicious! The only thing I found was the buns were really heavy and dense making them by hand so I only used 4 cups of flour (used all purpose unbleached flour) and they came out lighter. That was my only change, however either way, the taste was heavenly!!! Cinnabon has nothing on these homemade yummies! Thanks Marsha! **UPDATE** I now make these in my bread maker still using the changes I made earlier and they come out sooooo light and fluffy!! Simply divine!!

White Cake Frosting I

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I love this frosting! I used vanilla extract instead of clear and butter instead of the powdered butter flavouring and it still came out white and yummy! It was so easy to work with and I piped it out onto my son's first birthday cake using the Heavenly White Cake from this site as well. What a fabulous cake this turned out to be!! This is the icing & cake receipe I will be using forever!
