Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
This sauce wasn't bad, but I have had far better. First of all, it was a little too garlicy (and I like garlic!). Second of all, as with all Asain dishes, balance of flavour is key. This dish did not balance, since it lacked the tang that stir-fry dishes need. Tip: for greater complexity of flavour, use fresh ginger.

Popularity Cookies

These were good but I found the toffee layer to be a little too thick. They tasted much better the next day. Also good with graham crackers.

Cowboy Cookies III

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
These cookies are great! Exactly what I was looking for: right in between a typical chocolate chip cookie and an oatmeal chip cookie. I followed the reviewers suggestions and the cookies came out thick and chewy and stayed that way for days (they were gone after that). Here is what I did: I reduced the butter and both sugars to 3/4 cup each. Make sure you cream them well! Also be sure to whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together before adding to the rest of the ingredients. I used 2 cups of chocolate (I'm a chocoholic). Once the ingredients were combined, I refrigerated the dough for 1 hour. I used parchment paper instead of butter on the pan, and the bottoms hardly even browned (and I often burn the bottom of my cookies!). Oven temp of 375 was perfect and I left them in for 9 min. Result: chewy gooey goodness!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
This is a wonderful recipe! I gave it four stars because I felt I had to add a little more flavour. 1st of all, I used ground beef to save time (skipped the hour of simmering). Second, I skipped the oil and used a non-stick pot. Next, instead of using sour cream I used plain yoghurt (a lot healthier and trust me, it still tastes really good!). I added a little extra wine because I love the flavour it gives, and instead of adding salt, I simply added soy sauce so that the colour looks even more appetizing. YUM!!!!!!

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
I have always loved macaroons, and this recipe was pretty good, although not the same as the ones from the bakery. I had some trouble getting them off of the wax paper as other people have mentioned, so I was forced to dip them in chocolate. I also have to admit that I did not enjoy their taste the 1st couple of days...I found the sweetened condensed milk flavour too overpowering. But after taking them out of the freezer after a couple of weeks I found that the coconut flavour came through quite nicely. I'm not sure if I would make them again.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
This recipe always comes out perfect. Honestly, I've had professionally baked carrot cakes and this one is still better. I tend to find icing too sweet, so I cut the icig sugar in half-just my thing :) Thanks for the post!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
This recipe is just wonderful!!!! Best I've ever made! And yet so easy! I was reading the other reviews and mine did not turn out bowl-shaped or salty. However, I found that the boiling mixture alone was insufficient to melt the chocolate properly, as it gave me more of a pasty texture. I had to add a little extra heat. The taste is very fudgy which I love. All I have left to say is, well....mmmmm
