About this Cook
Married since March 2009, my husband's job moves us around quite a bit. Currently I am a stay-at-home cat mother and spend my time teaching myself how to cook and bake. Currently I'm making my way through the America's Test Kitchen cookbook but I'm in search for a new one.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I'm always looking for new recipes for cakes and pies, etc. My husband's coworkers have now come to expect something new every week and I am happy to oblige!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making pumpkin cake every fall. Sugar cookies every winter. And deviled eggs every spring!
My cooking triumphs
A pot roast that tasted just like my mother's cooking. And my very first cheesecake.
My cooking tragedies
No tragedies, just mistakes to learn from!

Quick Black Forest Cake
Just made this cake for my husband's birthday and it turned out great. I made the cake almost to the recipe but made only minor changes. Instead of regular chocolate chips which some people on here said didn't work out so well, I used mini chocolate chips and it was perfect. I also saw on another recipe the use of Black Cherry Soda in the cake so I added about 6oz of Thomas Kemper Black Cherry Soda to the mix. I also used a chocolate frosting recipe I got from America's Test Kitchen and then decorated it with chocolate covered cherries. FANTASTIC!

Bean Quesadillas
This is delicious! Frying it is a great idea - the crispy tortilla is to die for. When I made this, instead of chopping up tomatoes, I just poured in some Newman's Own salsa into the pan. This added a bit more flavor.
