My favorite family cooking traditions
I love experimenting with new flavors and spices! My dad used to sprinkle oregano on the cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich. When I was 18 yrs old, I ordered a grilled cheese in a restaurant; it tasted so bland - I sent it back because they forgot the oregano!
My cooking triumphs
I love to cook for the WOW Factor. It has got to look fantastic, too! I made (2) Derby Pies to serve after a holiday meal and my brother tasted a slice and promptly went into the kitchen and hid the second pie to take home. Put a smile right in my heart!
My cooking tragedies
I learned a long time ago, never to add an egg directly in to my recipe... once added a rotten egg and had to throw out everything!

Glorified Rice
This was great! My boyfriend asked me to make it and said it was just like what his mother used to make... and he proposed a couple of days later! Definitely whip the heavy cream... much better than cool whip... only takes a minute and is so worth it.

Mincemeat and Pumpkin Layer Pie
This is a great pie that my mother made all the time - she would put apple pie filling in the mincemeat to cut the tartness and it made it more fantastic!

Campfire Banana Splits
When I was a "Scout" we made these! We would peel the banana and cut a wedge in 4 places the length of the banana and fit a square of hershey's with a big marshmallow between the chocolate. These were placed in a foil pouch. It was such a treat!
