Too Much Chocolate Cake

I have now used this recipe three times, twice in a bundt pan and once as a layer cake. The sour cream and pudding really gives it the made-from-scratch texture without the hassle. I like it best as a bundt cake decorated simply with just a little powdered sugar and berries. This cake does not need frosting to make it a complete dessert! Even with a light whipped cream frosting I found the cake too rich for anything but a tiny slice.

Fluffy White Frosting

The prettiest frosting I have ever made, this was pure white, shiny, and smooth. I will definitely use it again but I plan to experiment with using coffee or brown sugar to give it a bit more flavor.

Chocolate Ganache

Simple, satiny, and delicious. I used very high quality dark chocolate and spooned this ganache between cake layers. It helped to stabilize the cake and tasted great.

Luscious Lemon Cake

after reading everyone's comments, i chickened out and waited until the cake was completely cool (about 4 hours) to invert it and pour a thickened version of the glaze over the top. the result was great; it gave the cake a shiny look and added moistness to the already moist cake. i garnished it with some fresh lemon slices and it looked really simple and beautiful. my family easter included 6 cakes and 15 people so i considered it a good review that my lemon cake was mostly eaten by the end of the day!

best chocolate ice cream i have made as of yet! don't even bother with non-custard recipes; they cannot compete with the lovely richness of this recipe. going to try it soon with splenda!
