Strawberry Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I frosted these with Cara's White Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting. I was a little disappointed that they fell a little when i took them from the oven, but that was probably my fault. They still looked really nice though, and the texture was wonderful. I prepared them as described by another reviewer and I didn't use the extract, but used almost .5 liters of strawberries. Still very moist 2 days later.

Mediterranean Chicken and Orzo Salad In Red Pepper Cups

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2010
This was really, really good. I liked the dressing a lot. Didn't use red pepper cups, and added some fresh parsley from the garden. Thanks!

Flambeed Vanilla-Poached Pears with Apricot Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
very nice recipe... although I had some home made apricot jam, i love it way too much to use it in a sauce for a new recipe, so i used some gooseberry jam. it was really tasty, and worked very well. the pears i was using were not very ripe, so it took a really long time to get them tender, maybe 10-15 minutes. anyhow, great recipe!

Wow, awesome recipe! the crust was delicious. Really can't go wrong with this recipe. Used honey crisp apples, and it was super sweet and delicious. Texture was perfect, and lasted for several days in the fridge.

Easy Cheese and Garlic Scones

Very good - texture like a biscuit. Used Havarti instead of cheddar because that's what I had on hand.

White Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
It went really well with Aini's Strawberry Cupcakes. I used about 150 grams of white Fazer baking chocolate, and a bit less than 100 grams of Creme Fraiche. To speed cooling, I floated the glass bowl with the hot chocolate in a pot of ice water and continued stirring until almost set. The creme fraiche/choc mixture was a bit lumpy at first, but after stirring turned a beautiful consistency, perfect for cakes or cupcakes. super, super sweet taste, but I guess that depends on your brand of chocolate.

Cheddar Puff Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
Great recipe! They didn't look much like biscuits for me, maybe more like high cookies. But delicious nonetheless. I used Gouda cheese, and the onion complemented it really well.

Smoked Salmon Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2007
I really enjoy this recipes, one of my favorites, and have made it many times. Don't usually include tomatoes and sometimes throw in a pinch of sugar as well. I've also been known to throw a bit of white wine in there too.

Pound Cake with Rum Topping

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
Really good recipe! Cake was absolutely delicious, moist, and spongy, and is even better with the little moist layer the booze-sugar liquid provides. I used amaretto for the soaking ingredient. It only sank down about 1 cm though, although company came and had to serve it quickly. I also used ~1.5 tsp "vanilla sugar" instead of extract, bceause they don't have vanilla extract where i live.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

This pie is very hard to mess up... it reminds me of this amazing pie at a diner in northern michigan. My wife said it's the best pie she's ever had. 6 stars.

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
Very delicious soup. Maybe not the healthiest thing ever with the butter and cream, but really good. My girlfriend (born in russia) said it was close to a traditional soup, but the "real deal" is a bit more brown, probably because of the type of forest-picked mushrooms used (i used regular white mushrooms).

Roasted Vegetables

Yeah, I'm pretty much obsessed with this recipe. Make it at least one time a week now.. It's a very easily adaptable recipe in terms of seasonal ingredients. Throw in whatever you want, zucchini, parsnips, it's all good.

Very delicious recipe.. although my girlfriend was born and raised in Russia and had never heard of it ;) Anyhow, I would definitely try it again, maybe with less onion next time though.

Easy Shake and Bake Chicken

This was really good.. never tried this before. Instead of flour we used cracker crumbs. Worked really nicely. outside was crunchy, inside juicy. we used boneless skinless chicken breasts and timing was about right, 40 min.

Garlic Pasta with Prawns

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
Very delicious idea for a pasta... only change is I first fried up a bit of zucchini for a while, then threw in the shrimp and lots of garlic. the resultant sauce was really tasty. after boiling mini shell macaroni, i stirred it in the pan with the sauce.

Chocolate Chip Bars

Not a novice "cookie chef", I followed this recipe to a T... turned out terrible. was wet in the middle, high and cakey on the edges. i cut out the edges, and the chocolate chip cake portion was really tasty.

T's Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
Very good, very filling. One thing though, I would suggest making sure your cuts are pretty "meaty"... I shaped some of mine like wedges, and the thinner edges cooked faster than the thicker ones, and burned a bit.. other than that, i enjoyed them very much.
