About this Cook
I am a biomedical engineer, graduated from Michigan Tech, now doing my masters degree in Tampere, Finland. I have played violin for a long time, and like cooking, computers, travelling, etc...
My favorite things to cook
When I was younger a family friend took me under her wing with baking cookies, cakes, and pies. She taught me lots of tricks and great recipes. My mother taught me a great deal about cooking full healthy meals, as I helped cook for my grandparents at a young age. As an engineer, I enjoy trying different recipes... having lots of rewarding fun experimenting. Allrecipes is pretty much the best thing ever for a busy student.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None in particular.. I enjoy trying some recipes from my "national makeup"... trying different scandinavian and eastern european recipes.
My cooking triumphs
Maybe putting on a dinner party for 10 or so by myself?
My cooking tragedies
Some anchovy pasta... sounded like maybe a good recipe, but they don't seem to have salted anchovies in Finland.. it turned out super bland and tasted like funky fish. should have tasted them beforehand!

Easy Cheese and Garlic Scones
Very good - texture like a biscuit. Used Havarti instead of cheddar because that's what I had on hand.

Mediterranean Chicken and Orzo Salad In Red Pepper Cups
This was really, really good. I liked the dressing a lot. Didn't use red pepper cups, and added some fresh parsley from the garden. Thanks!
