Pecan Pie Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
Halved the recipe. Used walnuts (that's what I had), added 1 tsp. of water and vanilla to crust with a sprinkle of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice. Used half white sugar and brown sugar, also added a sprinkle of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice to the filling (adds a nice warmth and you can't pinpoint the exact taste). Will use this crust recipe for my pecan pies in the future.

Was a little scared at first. BUT honestly the BEST pie crust I've ever made. Nice and flaky. Super easy. Thanks

Belle's Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2010
Love, love, love this recipe. It is soooo hard to find products without HFCS* (high fructose corn syrup). So I'm always on the lookout for great recipes. I will NEVER buy hamburger buns again. My family loved them. *(My 6 year old was diagnosed with Type 1 so I'm very conscious of the effects of HFCS on his numbers. As a family we just avoid it whenever possible.)

Oatmeal Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
These were amazing. My husband used to love the L.D. oatmeal creme pies until he found out they contain coconut. He harbors a deep hatred and disgust for it. These are pretty similar. I always adjust recipes to my taste. Added vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice to the cookie part, and added a dash of salt to the creme filling. It helps to alleviate some of the sweetness. Thanks for a great recipe.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I was a little skeptical because I've always used corn syrup, but this pie is GOOD. I don't miss the corn syrup at all. This will be my only pecan pie recipe. I experimented with a second pie adding walnuts and chocolate chips. I also baked it in a graham cracker crust. We'll see how it taste.

Great recipe. Added vanilla extract, cinnamon, and other spices. Also chopped up prunes and added those to the recipe. No one knew a thing.

Easy Indian Style Okra

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
This was an awesome recipe. I actually used curry powder and doubled the suggested amount. Being a Southern gal okra wasn't okra unless it was fried or sauteed with tomatoes. Everyone loved it, including my 4 year old. Thanks for the recipe.

Turned out great. Did not use beer, used beef broth instead. Will definitely make again.

Aunt Johnnie's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
Wonderful recipe. My aunt found this one and made it. She normally doesn't bake, but this was a home run for her. Everyone loved it. Now I've adopted this recipe for my own family. I made two adaptations: used all butter and vanilla extract, and added a pinch of salt.

Apricot Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
This was a great recipe. I added onions and garlic for a savory element. I also dusted my chicken breast with flour and browned them on both sides. Removed them, added the onions and garlic which I sauted then added the broth and the apricot. Added the breast back and let it cook. Everyone loved. Thanks for a great recipe.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
This is an awesome recipe. I doubled everything because I had about 12 chops, but it worked great. My husband said that this was the best lunch ever. He was really blown away. This was a very simple recipe, but yielded a restaurant quality meal.

Wonderful recipe. I wanted something quick and this was certainly it. I used an organic cake mix and added the chips and walnuts. Turned out awesome. I always add 1tsp of vanilla extract to my mixes. The family loved them.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Wonderful recipe. I actually halved the recipe. I took the advice of some of the other reviewers and modified just a little: used all butter, 1/4 cup more flour and 1/4 cup more oats and 1 tsp. vanilla extract. Will definitely make again.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2007
This is really good lemonade, but I have to admit something. I used lemon juice from concentrate. That's all I had and it was wonderful. I also added some frozen berries. Outstanding. Thanks for the recipe.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
Wonderful. I love to cook, but when it comes to cornbread I normally just grab a mix. Tonight it is cold and snowing a little, did not want to make a trip to the store just for a mix. This is a great recipe. My husband said no more mixes for cornbread. *Just a suggestion: Add cinnamon and vanilla, maybe a touch more sugar and you have a really awesome sweet cornbread which my oldest son requests sometimes. Thanks for the recipe.
