About this Cook
I am a high school Senior who hopes to go into a culinary career; Hopefully baking because that is my specialty. I once made a 6 layer cake with my best friend Kayla. Everytime my friends come over we always end up baking something. Also, I am taking Culinary Arts Classes at my school and am the Managing Editor of my school's newspaper. I am also the secretary of my schools' culinary club.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are cakes, cookies, and brownies. Also I cook dinner for myself and like to try new and different recipes. I usually try them on my friends when they come over.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My whole family revolves around the kitchen and food. I am very close to my grandmother and she first taught me how to cook. She grew up in the Pennslyvania Amish country so she has lots of yummy pennsylvania dutch and amish recipes. I have cooked with her in her kitchen since I was about 5. My sister is also a great baker; she made me a 3 tier cake for my sweet 16 that was absolutely gorgeous so I get some of my talent from her.
My cooking triumphs
I once made a Boston Creme Pie that was absolutely delicious. I also made an apple pie that triumphed my sisters when we had our grandma taste test each one. I can make a killer ommlette and my own homeade pasta sauce.
My cooking tragedies
My cooking tragedy had to be that 6 layer cake I made with my best friend. We made each layer of cake a different color and made the frosting blue. The cake turned out great but we had a problem, I call it my dad. My dad came in and painted us and the kitchen with blue frosting and then made us clean it up. We took pictures of it and made a scrapbook. It was one experience we both will remeber for a long time.

Suburban Cowboy Delight
This recipe is great. I am a Junior in High school and my Culinary Arts Class had a chili cook-off in January and this recipe tasted really great. We addded a few extra ingredients though, garlic basil and oregano. This recipe landed us a second place prize and our judges said it had the best aroma out of the 10 other entries. Thanks so much for the recipe!
