Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 11, 2012
This turned out amazing! I used 3/4 cup sugar, and about half of the cocoa was Hershey's special dark and half was regular cocoa. I just used the microwave to soften the butter, which was easy. Also, I used a mini muffin pan and cooked them for 13 minutes at 350. They made the perfect brownie bites! I served them plain with a ganache on the side. Thank you Angie!

Fabulous Fudge Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2012
My son, 13 years old, made this almost all by himself. He followed the recipe exactly, though he was unnerved at the end when the batter was so liquid. We split it into two cake pans and it cooked up great. Also, we used freshly ground pastry flour and it was still great. The taste was even better after letting it sit over night.

Sauerkraut Apple Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
My husband liked this and said it was carrot cake-ish. Here are my tweaks (doesn't everyone tweak?). I used 2 1/2 cups fresh ground soft wheat flour (aka pastry flour). For sugar, I used 1/2 cup agave nectar and the 2 TBSP molasses (not terribly sweet, but the frosting adds to the sweetness). I reduced the oil to 3/4 cup. The sauerkraut I rinsed, drained, and squeezed out as much water as I could. Also, I used 3 apples (they were small). Thanks for this crazy recipe - it's a great way to use up leftover sauerkraut. =) I only put 4 stars, since I tweaked the original recipe so much, but with my tweaks it's a 5 star recipe for our family.

Raspberry Summer Pudding (English Style)

I also used whole wheat bread (it was fresh ground, whole wheat bread that was a bit crusty). WOW,it was delicious! I could not stop eating it, and even my kids gobbled it up. Easy, delicious, and mostly healthy, this recipe is a keeper!

Sausage Sauerkraut Supper

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This didn't work so well for me in my crockpot, but I like the flavor combo. I will try it again, cooking veggies together in a regular pot, and adding sauteed sausage pieces at the end. I am still giving it 5 stars as we did like the taste. OH, I'm pretty sure the sauerkraut needs to be rinsed. Hope that helps someone else.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This recipe has me cooking roasted chicken on a regular basis. It is a great basic that can been tweaked in numerous ways. Last time I threw a bunch of veggies in the bottom of the pan and stirred them halfway through. Delicious & easy! (Oh, I definitely use the real butter-yum!)

White Layer Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
Finally found a decent recipe that uses less sugar than most! (In fact, I used even less and was pleased). I did use almond extract, as it adds sweetness. I cooked this in a 9x13 airbake pan. Since I did not remove the cake, it shrunk as it cooled and had this amazing shortbread like texture. Fun when a mistake turns out so tasty. =)

Loved the dressing. Used it to dress a pre-made broccoli slaw mix. Delicious!
