About this Cook
I am a mom, wife, registered nurse and self-proclaimed lover of most foods (sans fish). I love trying new wines with the different dishes I make. I have been a faithful member of Allrecipes since my sister turned me on to this site in 2000. I have to say, some of my best recipes have been procured from this site. Keep them coming, and I'll keep trying them out! Thanks!
My favorite things to cook
I am a catch-is-catch-can kind of cook - I love experimenting, but usually defer to the fast and easy prep recipes. I have a HUGE soft spot for anything cookie related. I kind of go nuts over the holidays. My kid's father is Lebanese, so I have some great exposure to middle eastern cuisine and spent a lot of time in the kitchen with his mom learning their traditions first hand.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is Pennsylvania Dutch, so you can only imagine the great food that I've been exposed to. Each Thanksgiving we enjoy my great-grandmother's recipe for pumpkin pie - my sister usually trumps me and will make it. She's the self-proclaimed pumpkin guru in our family.
My cooking triumphs
My favorite dishes from this site: Reuben Dip, Jamie's Cranberry Salad, Antipasto Squares, chocolate mint cookies I
My cooking tragedies
Waaaay too many to mention! It usually involves me being in a hurry and not paying attention to the measured amounts of ingredients OR doubling fiascos!

Taco Soup II
Long time favorite of mine; I make it every year when it starts to get a nip in the air. It's also similar to a recipe shared at a weight loss meeting - full of good fiber! Enjoy. :-)

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II
A GREAT hit with my husband's family (here for a reunion)! They are asking for the recipe. I also cut the oil in half - definitely moist enough! Thanks!

Get a Husband Brunswick Stew
Okay. So I already have a husband, but the name and the ingredients were intriguing. My brother lived and worked for Brunswick Country in Virginia, so I have the "orginal" recipe, however I thought I would give this a whirl. Well, my husband loved it! It should be called "keep a husband" Brunswick Stew! The sweet flavor had to grow on me, but the amount of meat in the dish was tremendous. It is a definite keeper. Thanks!
