About this Cook
I've been married for 26 years, have two sons who are 25 and 19, and work part time as a nanny. I love to hike, bike, read non fiction, and x-country ski. I consider myself a foodie, but not a food snob.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have any cooking traditions from growing up. Now though, my sisters and I get together frequently and make big meals for everyone. Not necessarily complicated things, just lots of variety.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 15 I made a loaf of Challah bread that everyone raved over. Recently, I made a flan for my Spanish class that turned out fantastic.
My cooking tragedies
When I was newly married, I tried to make a vegetable/bean soup from scratch using the ingredient list off the soup can, instead of using a recipe. I don't know what I did, but it was awful!

Loaded Vegetarian Quiche
This quiche is excellent. Per our preference for lots of veggies, I doubled them. Just used one tomato though, and hey, it's not a veggie. Used a red bell pepper and pepper jack cheese, because it's what I had on hand. Will make again for sure.

French Toast I
Very good, basic recipe. The second time I made these I was going to double it, but only had 2 eggs so I increased the milk to 1c. to try and stretch the mixture a bit more, and it was still great. Used a sourdough bread and served with real maple syrup, yum!

Artichoke Stuffed Mushrooms
I love stuffed mushrooms but didn't really care for these. I cut the cream cheese amount in 1/2 and was glad I did because it was plenty. Had to add more/other seasoning than called for to give the stuffing mixture enough flavor. Also, I love onion, but it seemed to over-power the artichoke flavor and that was a disappointment.
