Mohn Candy

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
I was looking for a way to use poppy seeds and stumbled across this one. My husband and I love all of the ingredients and had high hopes for this. The candy came out well but there was just something off about it. It's sweet with a slight nutty flavor but the poppy seeds killed it for me. (I love poppy seed bagels). They gave it an interesting texture but also a slightly harsh flavor.

Peanut Butter Balls (Power Balls)

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
My husbands grew up on peanut butter balls and I've been hunting for a recipe we could both enjoy. These ratios are perfect. The other recipes I've tried were too sweet or had artificial ingredients. Good peanut butter flavor without being over-poweringly sweet. I skipped the chocolate chips but used natural peanut butter and honey from Trader Joe's. You can really taste the difference with quality ingredients.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
My husband complains about the way most people make their lasagna, he doesn't like the overloading of meat. He ate half the pan that night! The sauce is just right, definately worth the simmering time. I only used a pound of hamburger and it still came out wonderful.

Rhubarb Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
I have a patch of Rhubarb growing by the barn and needed to find easy recipes to use it up. I'm not familiar with rhubarb but it's beginning to become a favorite. This recipe keeps that slight tart taste but is still sweet enough to make you want to dive in. It was simple to make. I used strawberry jello, delicious. I'm going to use the little bit of left over sauce to top some ice cream. Great recipe!

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: May 19, 2008
I had trouble getting the cookies into the oven, the dough was so good. I used Andes mints and had to stir a bit more to make sure everything mixed well before I added my dry ingredients. I was making these as a surprise for my husband while he ran out on an errand so I put the dough in the freezer for 20 minutes. I mixed the dough every 5 minutes to make sure it all cooled even. The dough rolled up nicely and my husband gobbled the cookies right up!

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
I've been craving these and the ones from Wal-Mart are always too grainy. When I was making them, I discovered I'd run out of regular coco and so I had to used flavored coco. Caramel coco and holy cow did it come out awsome!!! A bit of a adult flair to this childhood classic.

Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
Got a better texture than the other bread recipies I've tried. The crust was beautiful and the taste good. Doesn't keep well. Might try this recipe again, but looking for more sandwich bread type recipes.

It's a good base, but it's bland and leaves something to be desired.

Bagels I

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
what a mess. they came out soggy. Maybe I let them rise too long and made too many air pockets. Hmmm . . . they seem to have trouble when it came to boiling the. though the tasted alright. Will not repeat this recipe.
