Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
I thought these were great! I liked the fact that they are fluffy and not too too sweet. Next time I may reduce the shortening and cream the mixture better as sometimes you taste the Crisco. Overall they were WONDERFUL!

Mom's Favorite Baked Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This was wonderful! Even my DH who is picky about his mac and cheese loved it. Doubled the recipe, omitted the onions used Velveeta instead of slided american. Covered for half then added crushed Ritz crackers and left uncovered for the remainder. Will definately make again!

Bechamel Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
YUM! Great basic recipe. I made almost as written except I used garlic powder instead of grated onion and didn't realize I bough 99% fat free broth so I added a chicken boullion cube too. Used it in a spinach/sausage white lasagna and it was FABULOUS. Everyone loved it. Will definately make again and again.

Sticky Monkey Brains

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2007
AWESOME! Brought this to work for Friday breakfast... Rave reviews. Didn't have a bundt pan so I used a cake pan and doubled the recipe. Other than that I followed the recipe to a "T". I would recommend leaving it in the pan for a few mintues to cool before dumping it out- it allows for the bread to solidify somewhat. Will definitely bake again... and again... and again!

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
WOW! Amazing.. This was the BEST Baked potato soup/chowder I have ever had. I did make lots of changes, most of which came from other reviews. Like others I wanted this chunky but I couldn't wait overnight for my potato's to cool. Baked them at 375 for 80 mins then let cool for 10 and then placed in freezer for 20 before peeling and cubing. Cooked the bacon and mixed in when adding flour/salt/pepper. Used about 1/4 cup of flour, 1/2 cup half and half and 1/4 cup sour cream, 1 tsp hot sauce, and 1/4 cup jarred sliced jalapenos. Didn't add parsley- fiance won't eat anything green and leafy, but did add extra bacon on top with the cheese. This is going to be perfect for winter!

Slow Cooker Guisado Verde

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
Loved this! Next time I'll kick up the spice a little bit more, but this was very tasty. Used a 3lb pork loin- cooked whole. Couldn't find tomatillo's (in AZ- I know it's weird right?) so I used a 16 oz jar of Salsa Verde as suggested by others. Also used 12oz beer instead of water (also another helpful suggestion :-) My fiance liked this so much he requested I make it on a regular basis.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Made this yesterday for Turkey day- It was fabulous! Only made a few changes- halved the salt, and cooked the onions in bacon grease hoping to pull in some bacon flavor. Everyone loved it! Will be making it again next year. Thanks for the recipe!

Made this for my supervisor's baby shower at work and everyone loved it! Couldn't find white cranberry so used white grape juice instead and only used 5 scoops of ice cream. Can't wait to make again!

This was my first time serving Baked beans. They came out fabulous! Omitted the onion and added a fresh jalepeno. Cooked in crock pot on low for 4 hours. Even hubby who does not like BBQ liked these!

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2009
DO double the crust, but DO NOT double the butter when making it. Use 3/4-1 cup of butter. Like other reviewers I used foil to make removal easier. These just get better with age- they are much better cooled and last a LONG time. They are to die for. I love them.

Magic Peanut Butter Middles

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
Followed the recipe exactly with the exception of adding one tablespoon of heavy cream to the cookie dough to get it more moist. I'm sure milk would have worked fine too- I just didn't have any! I also rolled out the dough to making wrapping the PB balls easier. And please note- there is no possible way to make 30 1inch balls- I made 27 3/4inch balls. These were REALLY good and tasted better once they cooled. I will be making them again next weekend for a cookie exchange at work.

Mixed the chocolate chips in instead of putting them on top- made exactly as stated otherwise. Delicous! Exactly what I was looking for- something brownie-meets-chocolate chip cookie!

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
This was ridiculously good! DH said it's better than my regular chili. Made changes suggested by other reviewers- used salsa verde instead of canned tomatillos and added 2 T or cornstarch. I used diced tomatoes that had jalapenos. Since I roast and freeze my own green chilis I used ~10oz of hot Hatch variety, and also used sweet corn I had frozen over the summer. Cooked for a little longer to let it thicken. Served with shredded cheese and corn tortilla strips. Will be making this one again soon!
