Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
I thought these were great! I liked the fact that they are fluffy and not too too sweet. Next time I may reduce the shortening and cream the mixture better as sometimes you taste the Crisco. Overall they were WONDERFUL!

Hash Brown Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2007
This was great! I don't really like eggs, so I only added one additional egg per quiche. I made one with sausage, peppers and onions with Mexican blend cheese, and the other with spinach, mushroom and mozzerella. I made them the night before and brought them into work the next morning. Everyone LOVED them! Will definately make again!

Tri-Tip Rub

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
I make tri tip every chance I get... Since finding the recipe for the "Original Santa Maria Rub" my friends and family won't stop asking me to make it. I used a little less salt and added some ground mustard... Great!

Blueberry Muffins II

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
Very tasty. Used frozen blueberries instead of fresh, also thought 30 mins was too long. Baked for 25 mins and a few burnt on the bottom- will watch more carefully next time. I will deinitely bake again! Everyone at my work loved them!

Sticky Monkey Brains

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2007
AWESOME! Brought this to work for Friday breakfast... Rave reviews. Didn't have a bundt pan so I used a cake pan and doubled the recipe. Other than that I followed the recipe to a "T". I would recommend leaving it in the pan for a few mintues to cool before dumping it out- it allows for the bread to solidify somewhat. Will definitely bake again... and again... and again!

Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
Delicious! Used regular sour cream, didn't have celery stalks or onion salt so I used celery salt, used prepared mustard instead of Dijon... Will definitely make again! Even my picky fiance loved it. ***Update- Just made this again today and forgot to add mustard- still had GREAT flavor, not sure which way I like it better!***

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
This is the best Banana bread recipe. I've been using this for over a year, and I finally remembered to review it. I make banana bread approx once a month, and it still isn't often enough for my family and co-workers. I always add about 1/2 cup chopped nuts to it too. Will never try another banana bread recipe!

Chewy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2007
Although not my favorite kind of sugar cookie, it is exactly what my fiance was looking for, and he loved them. I used margarine (stick, not out of the tub) and the dough ended up being more like batter- was super sticky and hard to work with even after refridgerating. Will only make again at his request.

Country Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
I've made this three times now- every time it has been awesome! I would definitely recommend using Cheddar cheese and not substituting with a blend- it adds that extra flavor. I've also added bacon and bell peppers to change it up. Hash browns are also a good addition with the bread cubes. Fantastic! Will make over and over again!

Sausage Breakfast Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2007
The first few times I made this the crust was soggy, so I decided to bake the crust for approx 5 minutes before adding the ingredients. Turned out PERFECT! Great for team breakfast at work.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
Yummy! Used a smaller roast- approx 2.5 lbs, and left out the celery (I conveniently "forgot" to buy it). Turned out delicious.

Slow Cooker Guisado Verde

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
Loved this! Next time I'll kick up the spice a little bit more, but this was very tasty. Used a 3lb pork loin- cooked whole. Couldn't find tomatillo's (in AZ- I know it's weird right?) so I used a 16 oz jar of Salsa Verde as suggested by others. Also used 12oz beer instead of water (also another helpful suggestion :-) My fiance liked this so much he requested I make it on a regular basis.

Chiliquilla

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
Great presentation. I was a little skeptical at first, but I was pleasantly surprised! Used flour tortillas- it was all I had on hand, used ground turkey instead of beef, and finally I added jalapenos and cilantro. This one is definitely making "the list".

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
WOW! Amazing.. This was the BEST Baked potato soup/chowder I have ever had. I did make lots of changes, most of which came from other reviews. Like others I wanted this chunky but I couldn't wait overnight for my potato's to cool. Baked them at 375 for 80 mins then let cool for 10 and then placed in freezer for 20 before peeling and cubing. Cooked the bacon and mixed in when adding flour/salt/pepper. Used about 1/4 cup of flour, 1/2 cup half and half and 1/4 cup sour cream, 1 tsp hot sauce, and 1/4 cup jarred sliced jalapenos. Didn't add parsley- fiance won't eat anything green and leafy, but did add extra bacon on top with the cheese. This is going to be perfect for winter!

Seasoned Oven Fries

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
Yummy! I scaled the recipe down to 2 servings but still used a whole tsp of Seasoning salt... Turned out perfect- just as good as out of the deep fryer. Fiance says "I came through in the clutch" since we were out of oil for the fryer and we didn't feel like waiting an hour for baked potatos.

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
This was good- makes a lot of bread. Made exactly as recipe indicates with the exception that I used two 9x5 loaf pans. I'm giving this 4 stars as I was frustrated with the format of the ingredients. Typically the ingredients are listed in the order they are used. I got to the point of adding the pumpkin and realized I didn't have all my spices in.

I cut the recipe in half, made the cookies with about a tablespoon of dough and cooked for 15 mins as others had suggested. They turned out perfect! Will def make again.

Cinnamon Cream Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
These taste ok but I am giving them three stars as they took much longer than 20 mins to prepare. Maybe it's because I'm picky and didn't want rough edges so I went around each piece after I rolled it with a pizza cutter to trim the edges. Probably won't make a again as the end product isn't worth the effort.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
If you live in the Southwest like I do this is just eh... Very BLAH even with additional spices. Might be all right without so much enchilada sauce, and definately without all the corn. I'll stick with my mother's recipe. Won't be making this one again.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
Made this yesterday for Turkey day- It was fabulous! Only made a few changes- halved the salt, and cooked the onions in bacon grease hoping to pull in some bacon flavor. Everyone loved it! Will be making it again next year. Thanks for the recipe!
